how do we see his season going next season?
We all know salif has the quality he showed that in his 1st loan spell with us.
Last season, however was different he never really got going due to an obvious lack of fitness.
His fitness shouldn't be a problem this season, and depending on how many games he plays, i expect he'll be alot more useful to us.
Whether we can really do the business in the top flight remains to be seen really, his stint at liverpool didn't really give good vibes, but to be honest he didn't play alot.
I think he can be a good useful back-up this season for us, with minimal, but some premiership experience for good measure.
thoughts?

If he gets himself fit then he could be good back up from the bench and maybe even a first teamer if he has a few impressive substitute appearances. He clearly has the talent but after last seasons performances we surely can't risk making him a first choice for next season, he'll have to prove himself again from the bench.
Certainly a good player to have in your squad though.

A fit Salif Diao is easily good enough for the Prem. But it's IF we can get him (and keep him) fit!

Hope this seasons Diao wont be the Diao before we signed him
Yes Rory, i know you want the ball but im thinking about a more persuasive offer from Glenn, and i just might pass it back to Leon to keep you all on your toes!.

A fit Diao ,will be a very good player to have on our books. The bloke is quality as he showed during hisa first spell with us. If he can recover that form, and stay fit he'll be just the quality type player we'll need.

Hope you're right, but a fully fit Diao didn't cut it at any of the Prem clubs he played for before, so the evidence isn't encouraging.

He may not have been good enough for Liverpool, but he was certainly good enough for at least 50% of the clubs in the Prem. He was stuck in Liverpools reserves, on about £50K a week, which probaly deterred any interest from other clubs.

He did nothing at Portsmouth or Birmingham either.

i would feel more confident if liverpool were the only club he failed to impress but he failed at birmingham + pompey where he was younger and fitter than he is now.

Steven Gerrard said in his book that he knew after seeing Salif in a few training sessions that he was not good enough for Liverpool. I suppose fellow pros are pretty quick at determining your ability level (and whether or not you are a threat to their first team place).

Yeah, I don't like him, offload him to the champ. He did impress, he protected the defence and made good passes on loan.
HOWEVER, last season, Delap did all this and more, plus his king throw, much prefer delap to diao.
