Bravo for calling out simulation as cheating in the modern game. So refreshing to hear. Sadly Micah Richards who i do like didn’t agree. He said it’s all part of the game. I really hope this simulation gets pushed as cheating because it’s ruining the game and making the refs job incredibly difficult.

Definitely one of the biggest issues in the game along with feigning injury and the whole piece around the "right to go down"

Watched an old Man U v Forest game on YouTube the other day (I have no explanation as to why) and I kid you not in today’s environment there would have been at least 6 penalty’s. The game isn’t a better spectacle for the change that has occurred.

Cheating is not part of the game. The rules clearly forbid it.

Richards didn't condone cheating, he said Grealish was good at buying fouls, which has happened in the game since we had referees.
People should lose their shit with referees, not players. They enforce the laws.

Of course it is cheating. Even if it wasn't then at least it must be unsporting behaviour which is also a punishable offence.

Micah is right, it's a case of if you can't beat them join em!
When we were in the prem we got shafted many many times by simulation (cheating) and I was livid with it, then you start to realise, well it's going to happen so why not get even!

They enforce the laws. you are right, he didn't condone cheating. Only because he said cheating was a step up from simulation. How anyone could think that fooling a ref into giving you a decision that you don't deserve is not cheating baffles me. perhaps someone could explain it to me.

If a player tries to stay on his feet he gets nothing for it, until officials start looking at the offence and not the reaction nothing will change

Just watching Nashville v Miami, where, I might add, Shawcross is doing a fine job of marshalling the defence. Anyway a Nashville player just waved his hand in the face of a Miami player when taking a throw in, can’t be sure if he touch him or not, but the Miami player waited a few seconds, presumably until the ref was looking, and proceeded to fall the the ground clutching his face. He must have been down for two or three minutes feigning injury. I just don’t know why they do it when it’s being broadcast on live television and everyone can see he’s a cheating twat.

The referees are too weak & don't enforce the laws. They let the players get away with it & that's why they cheat, because they can. They follow what the other players get away with. One does it so they all do it. It's down to poor refereeing. As Souness said.

The penalty decision in the Peterboro' v Lincoln game last night was a classic. Peterboro' were promoted to the Championship as a result of blatant cheating. The ref was in a perfect position to view the incident. I still don't know how it was given.

Souness and a lot on here don't understand that being good at winning a foul doesn't equal diving.
Grealish is bloody great at getting between the man and the ball and letting reckless or shit players foul him. A dive for me is when there's no contact at all.

Maybe the fans need to unite to get rid of it like they did with the Super League. I can remember a time when we laughed at Foreigners playing in England who indulged in diving. Now we have defenders with both hands around a forward's waist at corners and players feigning injury if a hand as much as brushes their face. All of which can only be described as pathetic and would have been looked on years ago as unmanly.

Agree with that I think Souness understands the difference very well and that is not what he is complaining about. every footballer from the age of six is trained to keep his body between the ball and his opponent. this is one of the advantages of being two footed. I think what he is complaining about is: 1. the player travelling at speed, while being chased, who suddenly applies the brakes and forces his opponent to run into the back of him. 2. the player who knocks the ball forward, slows a little and throws one of his feet out to the right or left side, totally unnaturally and getting clipped by an opponent. 3. player going down without any contact whatsoever. or a player feeling a hand touching his body, without any pushing being involved, immediately going down like a sack of spuds. I think that he feels that it is a man's game and players should only go down when they can't stay on their feet. If all players did this then refs would give pens even when the player didn't go down.

Or better yet, the young players who don't make it out of the academy system. Players who believed they'd make a career of it but don't cut it at professional level.
