Would MON still be our manager if fans had been allowed in the ground for the last six months?
Yes or No?
I think it would have been toxic, the fans would have been livid.

Yes.
I really don’t think he would have carried on with the negative stuff and we’d have been better for it.

There would have been several weeks of “your football is shit” and “sack the board” etc etc - the number of home defeats would have caused considerable hostility for sure ...whether he would still be manager Is moot but he would have been defiantly gone end of season in my view.....BUT maybe the absence of a match-day crowd backlash will probably see him survive as Coates will have not seen “the fuss” and I’m pretty certain he won’t be on here reading the spleen venting !

Yes. I really don’t think he would have carried on with the negative stuff and we’d have been better for it. You make a valid point. They’d have been boos with Vokes, Afobe got it big time and that was only a game or two wasn’t it?

But I honestly don’t think it’d have got this far.

If the fans turned on Scholes, which they be fully justified in doing, the board may then pull the trigger on MON to take the heat off them.
Be interesting to see how it plays out when the crowds are back in

The Oatcake negativity has rarely been reflected among the crowds at the Stadium. Not saying it has never happened that there were some degree of protest, but the stadium fans tend to stand with the manager and certainly with the players.

It’s been far more pleasant at the ground than should have been these last few years yeah. But there’s not a chance Vokes and Brown at the least wouldn’t have been booed regularly.

Vokes yeah, but Brown is one for our future and the fans can be forgiving of a player, young or old, if he puts in an effort and does a lot of running; which Brown does.

I think he’d have been ok.
Jones wasn’t hounded out by the fans, who were actually remarkably patient with him, and he was far worse.
Rowett was hounded because he compounded his soporific, numbnuts approach by publicly chucking fan favourites under the bus then taking on the fans themselves.

The fans in the ground remained pretty loyal to Nathan Jones until the final few games, despite much worse performances and results. There would have been a degree of discontent, but this messageboard tends to attract the extreme ends of the scale. It was only a few days ago that people on here were saying that we would be lucky to get 5,000 season tickets - and then we went out and had one of our best over opening day sales!

Memory slowly comes back to me. Two years ago, after the long charade of Jones' mad sales talking about his pipedream over the spring and summer, the first game, which coincidentally was against QPR, a section of the fans did actually boo the team in general and Afobe especially; as a result Afobe refuses to play for us again.

He's had a bit of a hall pass this season without the supporters there, I do think he'd have changed things around if the crowd had been there and who knows the team may have been given a lift with us all behind them. The big question is will he be in a job half way through next season if the football and results are as bad, I feel he'll keep his job as long as we're safe BUT if he continues like he has for the 2nd half of this season he'll be out by December IMO. Gouranga.

All were pretty sure Jones was a mentalist! Not in the beginning. There were plenty of people on here and in the stands that, to qoute one of Jones' favourite buzzwords, "bought into his vision", praised his positivity, and were suddenly diehard supporters of the diamond, and loved seeing his vivid body language and chestpounding. Just go back in the pages of the Oatcake mb and see for yourself.

The 7or8 thousand die hards who would still be going are not the booing type.
But maybe this season would be completely different with the crowds in

I don't think our results would have been nearly as bad if fans had been in the ground. I'd like to think the number of home defeats would not have been as many!
