Penalties really do seem to sum up our shitness over the last three or four years at both ends of the pitch. Imagine if we had scored 50% or saved 50% of those penalties rather than treating them like a free hit or get out of jail card for the opposition.

That is the only one I can remember George Berry missing. Hit the post didn't he? Higgy took a great penalty. I think he hit the post yep. He had one saved in the cup by Paul Cooper who was a great penalty saver. I think he coached Mggleton who saved a few himself. Cooper was so good he doubled for Stallone in Escape to Victory. . Was a lad for Brighton had a blinder that day. Conlon or similar. Was linked with a few clubs then hardly heard of him again.

Bobby Cairns, I don't recall him missing one. He just rolled the ball and it hit the side netting just inside by the post.

Harry Burrows for me. Had ne of the hardest shots in the league. Just blasted the ball. If the keeper tried to save it, he ended up in the back of the net, along with the ball.

Harry Burrows only missed once that I can remember and he went the longest time without missing. His technique was perfect. Low and hard just inside the post. I saw him miss in a 3-3 home draw versus Ipswich Town. I believe there were three penalties in the game. I think Colin Viljoen was there penalty taker. As a 'keeper I would never have wanted to face a Harry Burrow's shot.

I don’t remember Carl Hoefkens missing any, but they were all Championship and may have been 4 or 5 at most?

Not in the top flight but I always thought Stefan Thordason took a very good penalty.

Harry Burrows with the lead weight that was a soggy ball on a mud flat pitch in those days.Wonder what he would think of the current model of ball today, I doubt it would be strong enough to take many of HIS kicks!
