Well he certainly was.
But why has it all turned in to shit since the Cardiff game?
6 wins from 30 played from that point.

Last season was an exceptional effort to achieve safety from the position in inherited, this season by and large has been poor.

He's definitely not doing a great job. He's going to be under immense pressure come next season and the board won't hang around if we haven't improved by late September.
The style of football this season has been utterly ghastly to watch and results haven't been much better. We are heading for yet another bottom half finish... How is that "doing a great job"?
That said, he's comparitively cheap and massively got us out the shit last season.
A huge few games for him in August/September.

Barnet don't. We were outplayed as I would expect against any of the top 4 Prem teams.

This season overall has been really poor even when we were winning games the football was dire. Mon would have been shown the door at most clubs with a record of 6 wins in 30 games he as also had a very easy ride without fans in the stadium.

This season has been poor, injuries are part of the game. I do agree and if we have gone out and hired a squad of players so fragile they shouldn't leave the house in the wind then that's kind of our issue too.

I get the impression he has the job for a medium/long term rebuild. I dont have anything concrete to back that up, it is just the impression I got from various interviews he has given. In my opinion, he brought in some seasoned players to steady the ship and keep us in the Championship while the club grooms a younger player list. There have been injuries, but we also have a lot of players out on loan, that we don't want (or they don't want Stoke) and no-one else seems to want to pay a fee for. We all know the terrible transfer history that the club has recently endured, and it seems we attempting to rebuild from within, while we try to get rid of the deadwood (which seems to be very difficult). There has been reasonable turnover at U23 level but the current teams prospects appear very positive. We are coming from along way back, but I think we have positive signs that the younger players have real potential. Personally, I didn't think we would go up this season. I would have taken it, if by some chance we were promoted obviously, but this team would not do well in the Premier. I feel it would have been a year too soon for us (at least). Hopefully the Under 23s develop well and some push for the first team next season.

As a genuine question, does anyone know how many of those 30 games we have drawn? At one point it felt like we were drawing every week! š 11. I believe this was discussed before. It really irritates me when people say āIād take a drawā before a game or āa good point earnedā after a draw. Itās not. A draw is two points dropped - plain and simple. We had 15 draws which is second only to Millwall who are one place above us. If we had turned 8 or 9 of those into wins that would be 16 - 18 more points and 8 or 9 points less to our competitors.

Iād say the season has been far from poor more like an absolute disaster given the diabolical football on display.
Weāve been down this road with Hughes but persisted with him and that got us exactly where and who was his replacement again??
MON needs replacing urgently

He did a terrific job last season but this season has been abysmal. His record of 6 wins in 30 games is shocking and the football has been mind numbingly bad. Most other clubs would have sacked him long ago. He needs to go.

Last season, fantastic without doubt, with some great football. This says to me he is very capable. This season, mid table with the stats to match. Football has been (especially lately) dire. Now, not sure how much of that has been down to injuries, players drop in form, restrictions on recruitment due to players not leaving or intentional tactics. I think next season up to Christmas will provide us with the answer. I donāt really expect to see promotion form, but I think we need to see something more than we are right now.

Why do people keep going on about draws I'd rather 2 losses and 1 win than 2 draws and 1 loss. Draws are not as good as they were when it was 2pts for a win. So forgive me if I ignore the draw column as far as results go.
