Totally agree with what you are saying , my only problem is what are the reasons for them not wanting to be here . Surely part of a managers job is to make players feel welcome and settled , or if not the manager then the club employs enough staff to deal with these issues HR for instance , is it just coincidence that most of the bomb squad were foreign nationals ?. Surely they couldn’t all be bad eggs could they ?. This is not about MON, Jones or Rowett. Bruno did not want to be here the minute we were relegated, but unlike some others in bomb squad, he did agree to play on till an appropriate offer came in. It never came, but the loan to AZ was the naked maid appropriate enough if the loan led to a transfer. Unlike the other 9 loans that are going nowhere, it looks as if this one might, but until the two clubs actually talk money we won't know how realistic it is. My guess is that after long talks it will all come down to another loan and then next year we are a problem short. I don't think the majority of the bomb squad are bad eggs. Some were but they were let go: Berahino (who has an English passport, so there goes your theory) and Imbula. The others' contractual situations have for sure made things difficult for the club, but it hasn't been great for them either. I think his appetite for the fight started to wane a bit before that. His form was never as good for us as when he was on loan, almost as soon as he got his big fact contract his performances began a downward trend and became very patchy. He wasn't the worst of that group of players but he definitely displayed a bit of an attitude problem and lack of commitment.

Fair point, didn't we have to pay a higher fee for him? From memory, we failed to agree a fee with Porto in the loan agreement and they held us to ransom when it became obvious we wanted to keep him. Says it all about the organisation at that level of the club. It seems like such a small but important detail to get right and ironclad, but beyond us, apparently.

How much to break even due to FFP? £1.5M? Little bit less but about right. Also depends if his value was one of those losses we've been able to write down due to covid. In which case just getting his wages off the bank is a result. Even if not fully written down, if his contract ends next season, the charge will be in the accounts anyway

Maybe, but here’s my analogy. I work for Aldi on £10 an hour and was quite happy to do so but all of a sudden I don’t like the new supervisor, the decor is drab and they build a new Lidl buy my house where my mates work, but only pay £6 an hour. So I go to my manager and tell him this and ask him to make up the £4 an hour difference because I’m not committed to Aldi anymore and feel trapped and want to go to the new Lidl store. I think his reply would probably be somewhere near my sentiment of do your job or.....,if you don’t like it f.....off. Maybe I’m being a bit too simplistic about this🤔 Hold on, am I being a bit thick. You’re already on £10/hr at Aldi so your manager ‘making up’ another £4 puts you on £14/hr. It’s Lidl paying £6 not Aldi isn’t it? 🤔 That’s why he works at Aldi. Sorry couldn’t resist!

One minute you’re keeping a clean sheet against Messi’s Argentina in the World Cup semi-final, the next you’re getting torn a new arsehole by a plodding Rotherham winger at the bottom of the Championship. Bye bye Bruno.

Ironically it was the complete opposite of that if my memory serves me right. We’d agreed a buy figure in the loan and then tried to reduce it by a couple of mil when the time to buy came. There were very many on here criticising the club for penny pinching (well 200 m pennies to be precise) saying we should have stumped up the extra 2m and had him here in June when we stuck them out until August but got him at the reduced rate. I may be wrong. It happened once but thankfully Bayern was on hand to correct me. 😉

The permanent deal took a long time that summer and I might be remembering (or probably misremembering again) rumours got from here. When I actually went and investigated I saw that we actually paid £7m for him. I remember a figure of £8m (that easily could have been £9m) being talked about initially, during his loan spell. So I think you are spot on to be fair!! 2017 was a long time ago. He is a good egg our Mr Scholes. 🙄 Edit: I almost forgot to give Mr Cartwright his dues. I can't let that happen.

Happy to see him off the wage bill, I don't think he's that good, Collins & Souttar are the future Hes a far better backup than Chester and Baath.

I don't think Chester is that bad myself, 22 clean sheets this season. We conceded loads of goals with Bruno in the team, albeit a higher level but I'm not sad to see any of the Premiership defence move on

www.voetbalprimeur.nl/nieuws/980069/mogelijk-langer-verblijf-voor-ervaren-stopper-bij-az-staan-er-allebei-voor-open.htmlThere is a good chance that Bruno Martins Indi will also play for AZ next season. The 29-year-old defender is hired from Stoke City this season, but both Martins Indi and AZ are keen to extend the partnership. However, Stoke also has a say in a possible new deal. In front of the camera of the AZ club channels, Martins Indi is asked whether he will stay with the club longer. The Orange International initially keeps his cards to his chest. "Now I'm just fighting hard for the last games. After that I'll just go back to Stoke City and we'll see." Not much later Martins Indi tells that he has spoken with AZ about a longer stay. "Confidence has been expressed from both parties. Internally it has also become clear that we would both be open to it. There are only other issues at play. So it will take a while." On Thursday, Martins Indi will take on FC Groningen with AZ. The Alkmaarders are engaged in a race for second place with PSV. There are two more league matches scheduled. AZ has one point less than PSV.

Pay his full wages and / or buy him for whatever godforsaken sum remains on his (possibly dodgy?) amortised transfer fee.
And 'you're very welcome AZ'

He at least did not refuse to soldier like Ndiaye but he was dreadfully slow and looked at times as if he was running in treacle. IMHO Morgan Fox even with his limitations was an improvement and cheaper.

Was not good enough of a left back to have to play there. I did think he was good enough for left side of a back three though. Would have formed a decent partnership with Souttar in the centre and Collins on the right of centre.

The die, sadly, has been cast across all our loanees, whereby loaning clubs know, by way of precedent, that they can take our trousers down again and again. If it was a pisstake of a lowball offer however and we go to a back three, as suggested below - where he'd play the left sided CB of a three and MoN could build the required bridges and he got him motivated .. Oooops. About three too many 'ands' in that one. No. You're right. We're fooked.
