No, but anyone after any groundworks for a driveway/landscaping etc at any point is in for a hefty bill to desire the cable as it's going in at pretty shallow depths.

Anyone using it round here and what are the package prices through their suppliers? Girlfriends dad is swapping over to the 1GB package in a few weeks, I’ll keep you in the know if I hear anything. Paying just under £40 I believe and no set up costs as part as a promo. 2 year contract, no price rises.

SD22 has it right. My brother has it and is very impressed actually. Installed and reinstated his garden/drive back to how it was. Its something like this ; no upfront payment and £40 per month, or £600 up front and £29.99 a month for life (well, until the first increase I suppose). He gets 960mb down speed with no flutations. Its pretty decent pricewise if you don't want or need a landline, tempted myself but Mrs Buzzb is old school and insists on keeping the landline!!

Lila Connect are digging up the road in my direction at the moment. I remember seeing the eye watering prices for it earlier this year, but not they appear to be offering free installation and fast broadband for £25-£30 per month. Am I missing something here, as the installation fee is apparently £49.99 (currently free) instead of £600 up front.

Landlines are all moving to Voice over IP (internet calls) so in the very near future you won't be able to get a traditional landline anymore. I have sky broadband and my landline is internet calls I am sure Lila Connect would offer an internet calls package. In most cases you just plug your landline phone into a port in the router.

I’d be interested to know more about this from anyone who has it. Just about to move house and looks like they connect to it.
Always been a believer that if it’s too good to be true it normally is. But 1GB/1GB fibre for £30 a month certainly feels it.

But 1GB/1GB fibre for £30 a month certainly feels it. It's been installed on my estate over the summer but we also have Openreach full fibre available so I can get up to 900mb through my own broadband provider. With companies like Lila - they lay the cables in the street but if you sign up they will need to dig up your garden/drive to get the actual connection into your house as they can't use the existing cabling into your property. Suppose it's worth weighing up the pros and cons of it. In my situation I can get full fibre with Openreach so isn't worth the change for me in my opinion.

This is one thing that really sandpapers my arsecrack after moving to the US. Internet deals are proper shite here. Because I live around a NASA lab and Caltech it's apparently a "good" area and I'm "lucky" to have three choices so I can pick the one that's £55/month for 100/10 Mbps. Some mates further out pay similar for stuff that's advertised as 30 Mpbs but never reaches it.
Lucky bastards living in Stoke instead of LA.

My phone data speed is way faster than your broadband speeds out there and it's crazy I know some tech folk, they say it's because of regulations. The UK allows more competition, while in the US the internet companies bought politicians and got them to write rules that limit competition. It depends on political party too. Generally Democrats want more competition and better, cheaper internet while Republicans generally work to prevent competition and ensure higher profits for companies like AT&T without them having to work for it. Four years of Trump really hurt since the Verizon lobbyist he put in control of the communications commission basically kept doing Verizon's work.

Yeah it all looks good but feels too good to be true! I rang them up this afternoon as I too felt like the deal was too good to be true. It appears it is true; no upfront cost (unless your house makes it difficult to reach in some way) and a great price for symmetrical speed broadband. It's the super fast upload speed that really caught my attention. The system is inherently better than BT fibre as you are effectively plugged directly into the network so ping time should be about 1ms. At the end of the 18 month contract, you still have to pay for the connection into your house, currently £9.99 pcm, but you then get to choose a different ISP if you want to. They don't get to me until Q1 next year, so I guess they will put the price up just before they get to me.

Im tempted to give them a ring myself to make sure. From the website it looks I’ll I’ll be eligible. I used to work for Vodafone and was selling 1GB/1GB to enterprises for thousands a year. Hence my scepticism. I think I’m still in contract with my FTTC, so might just pay for both for however long is left just so I have a back up.

Yeah it all looks good but feels too good to be true! Its all part of a push by the council to get high speed internet rolled out around the city. SOT Council have a partnership with VX/Lila. Giving away good introductory offers is a fantastic way of rolling out gigabit, and it’s much cheaper than Virgin are offering. It’s tempting indeed, particularly as it’s 18 months at that price. Best to jump on before it’s too late!

We had ours installed about 8 months ago. 29.99 a month. Plus 10 pound a month line fee. Install was really quick. 950 mbps up and down on ethernet. Super fast. Beats the pathetic 21mbps I was getting with sky.

We were the first one on the street to have it installed. I had to wait 2 months though. To let my sky contract run out.
