Becks manages to break the MLS’ “David Beckham” rule.
Priceless.

You can have three ‘designated’ players who’s salaries don’t count towards the salary cap. The rule was introduced to allow Becks (man of the people) to basically write his own paycheck to play over here. Having signed a fourth player (presumably by accident) and been caught out IMiami let one of their present designated players go out on loan to third tier Fort Lauderdale for the rest of the season thus allowing said new signing to play. Lauderdale btw are an Inter Miami feeder club (third level)

Does anyone know how much he is being paid?

Does anyone know how much he is being paid? I don't, however the maximum salary is $530,000 unless the player is a DP or signed with targeted allocation funds (both of which he is not). Also, their first match is tomorrow and all the pre-game info I've read has him not even starting!

It is a real shame for him as he has been a collussus for us over the years, but I am not sure how much football he has left in him, with all the injury problems he has had over the last few years. This move smacks of semi-retirement and a possible move into coaching.

I wonder if he has shown any interest in that direction by starting his coaching badges??? I am sure he would make a very good and well respected one!! Hopefully we will see him back here in that sort of capacity at some point in the future... in the very near future preferably!

Wind it down in St Pete (one of my fave places on Earth) where it’s a warm weather game, last season and a half move toward management. Pleasant introduction, the back to Blighty for the real job.

I am sure there are worse places than Miami to retire to, rubbing shoulders with the Beckhams on a daily basis.

I am sure he would make a very good and well respected one!! Hopefully we will see him back here in that sort of capacity at some point in the future... in the very near future preferably! I'm not 100% sure but I thought he was already taking/ taken his coaching badges so who knows.

I read an interview from the telegraph where Ryan basically said he was going to retire and was looking to go into coaching, then his agent got a call from Neville or Beckham. So, I think you’re correct. One last, albeit much smaller, payday and then he’ll be coaching.

Hopefully we will see him back here in that sort of capacity at some point in the future... in the very near future preferably! How do you know if he's a good coach ornot? I have no idea! But he has a great character, obviously, he was a great captain for this club and was one of our longest serving players ever. Those are the usual types of characteristics that would translate into becoming a good coach. With his undoubted affinity for the club and the wide respect he holds with most of the fanbase, I think he would be welcomed back with open arms, if he ever decided to return in some capacity. A sentiment echoed by officials of the club, when he left. I assume they were not expecting him to return as a player, having let him leave his playing contract. I see no reason a man with his experience of the game at the highest level would not make a good coach!!

Has someone given Mrs Beckham a fat lip, it appears to be bleeding. Is fergie holidaying in Miami by any chance? Edit: those two questions are completely unrelated by the way!! 😉 😉
