What am i missing here? Didn't i read quite recently that FFP is being fucked off. If thats true. Why do we need to worry about it? UEFA FFP and the EFL FFP are two different sets of rules, so nothing confirmed for EFL clubs as yet.....

We will not be trying to get rid of Allen. He will be made club Captain! He major asset in the squad! Have you ever thought of going? We won't but we should, why should he be club captain, he's done absolutely nothing to deserve it. He's a decent back up in the squad but we don't miss him when he's out so he'd be no big loss. Totally agree not missed at all

Aren't wages the issue not transfer fees? No one will match the pay of Wimmer, Etebo, Badou etc. since they wildly over paid. So unless they are keen on a pay cut they will just 'sit' to contract end. I suppose we could always pay some of them off, galling as that may sound when you think of their contributions. Another factor maybe if those players over 30 get offered deals elsewhere on less money but on longer contracts. Say for example, McClean has a year left on 25k a week, but finds a club over the summer who will give him 3 years on 10-15k a week plus a decent signing on fee. The security of a longer contract which would take him into his mid 30’s might be tempting. Good point on potentially longer contracts elsewhere, I had not thought about that.

Longer contracts to players his age at that level are just not happening.

We are lumbered with him. I've never faulted his efforts or commitment, but he's always been a bang average player wherever he's been and the contract we dangled at him was ludicrous.

I mentioned something similar on a different thread a while ago, Only with us offering the contract extensions.Take ,for example, Clucas, Ince and Vokes, all allegedly on 30k a week. Say we were to offer them a new 3 year contract on 15k a week. This would save us over £2 million in wages next year. Repeat with 3 more and you have £4 million to play with. When the season ends we will be committed to paying 6 players £1.5 million each over 2 years. Surely you could buy out those contracts for £1 million each, or £6 million in all. At the moment each player is due to receive £1.5 million next year. Under this new arrangement each would receive £750,000 in wages next year + £1 million going away present or a total of £1.75 million or we could just send them £750,000 a year for 3 years. Would this enable us to keep the players that we want to hold on to?

They'll sell Powell and Collins this summer.
We might get a handful of those out on loan off the books, but it will be in return for paying off part of their contracts, no fees.
We should get a fee for Etebo. Playing well at Galatasaray.

Allen would be a big one given the wages he must be on. Sadly given his new injury you'd think there's very little chance of us getting rid anytime soon. His stock in the game is still quite high, God knows how. He must be one of our highest earners so for me it's a no brainer. He has to go

what's in it for the player? A minimum of £250,000. Please read my post again. It didnt really make sense the first time so I'll pass. From what I've pieced together you feel it may be attractive for a player to approximately halve their wages to extend it on low money they could most likely get elsewhere and a lump sum.

At the moment they are due £1.5 million each up to June 2022. New contract would mean that they could receive £.75 million up to June 2022 and a lump sum of £1 million and their contract torn up in July/ August. This would give them an extra £250,000 and they could still get a contract elsewhere.

I've said it a few times already, bar Campbell, Powell, Collins, Souttar and Bursik, we should entertain and accept ANY offer for any other player, they are simply that expendable.
Replace with academy players or young hungry lower league players and start to follow the Brentford model that clearly works a treat.
Who could we get rid of realistically, well most of them if well handled. If we can find Wimmer a club then any twat can.

Knowing Stoke, the 5 you mentioned would be sold, while we hang on to the dead wood.

That's a good plan , starting from the season after next season As for next season we are stuck with a whole raft of rubbish players on sky high wages , that no club in their right mind would sign for the money they are on . A few super rich clubs will sign super talented players on sky high wages , such as de bruyne , pulisic , Bruno Fernandez and co Nobody at all will sign rubbish like wimmer Ince and vokes on sky high wages Literally nobody is that stupid ( apart from Stoke city)

I think with Covid and the capacity for value recalibration changes our success will depend on the quality our solicitors/accountants. I imagine that with the successful work of Bet365 they have significant experience complying with a range of laws, rules and customs in different environments. With every club in the same position the regulatory enforcement agencies will have insufficient investigative capacity. Any that is available will likely be directed at current physical problems (bankruptcies) rather than balance sheet issues (we've spent more than we should but we can afford it without compromising the clubs physical sustainability). Therefore we may have an opportunity to significantly improve our relative position. I think the club have been both professional and community focused during the pandemic and that will also support our position.

Get rid of: Vokes, Powell, Mikel, Allen, Tymon, Clucas, Baatth, Chester, McClean. Keep: Brown, Cousins, Thompson, Souttar, Collins, Davies, Gunn, Smith, Fletcher, Norrington. Introduce: 6/7 of the U-23s. Buy: Some of Harry Souttar's Aussie team mates.

Jordan Cousins is the only definite person who could leave. Also, players on loan here, if you can count them. Basically, we’re stuck with the same hand next season. Some of the bomb squad might get paid off, but not sure how that’d sit

Players are not going to give up their contracts

Players are not going to give up their contracts Wimmer might leave because die Karlsruher who currently have him are willing to take him on for more than next season. It would require a nominal fee, and, a reduction of wages (probably partially paid by us next season, then nothing from that point on). I hear what you're saying, lordb, but Wimmer is no fool. He can see himself staring into a big empty hole if he doesn't fix himself up with a club. He has that chance at a club where he's liked, which he allegedly is there. If on the other hand he insists future contracts must have wages the same level as here, he might as well retire. No one will pay him that.
