That’s an easy thing to say when you’re not paying the bills. We’ve just declared at £87m loss in one year, paying his contract off isn’t an option. What difference does it make ? If we keep him on we still have pay his wages Because if we are paying his wages it means we cannot bring in a replacement. If we want better players to come in, we need to find takers for the players we don’t want.

The worry for me against Blues on Saturday Is aside from them being up for it more & still honouring Bowyers honeymoon period, is they utilise quite an effective long throw into the box & just can't see us successfully defending it consistently as set piece defending is usually our achiles heel! Be kind of ironic us conceding from a long throw set piece aswell! Ironic really most teams have ago at the long throw nowadays one of the few who don't are us

Dreadful record. By contrast our record at the other West Midland grounds is pretty good. I’ve been five times. Seen us win the once, and then that draw when it all kicked off in 1992. Other than that I’ve only seen us lose there. One game I remember is the first game of the 87/88 season where we lost 2-0 despite dominating the whole game. I think we conceded the first goal of the season anywhere in the UK after about 30 seconds. We hit the bar five times in that match This is still the most baffling Stoke away performance ive ever seen. It was our first away day of the season by memory, the sun was out and we had a really good 5,000 plus following ( we always had better numbers at the Blues than Villa). We slaughtered them and as you say hit the bar five times, one of those was a shot from a Stoke player (cant recall who) from two feet out who managed to hit the bar and project the ball backwards over his head and back up the pitch! An outstanding achievement. They had two chances and scored both

Typical, peak, prime time Stoke City. Was Hemming the lad who had heart problems? I always used to get him mixed up with Maskery for some daft reason.

Blues brought a big mob up that day. Gave us a bit a chasing by all accounts. It was mental in Stoke Town centre before the game.

Yes Hemming was the young red haired defender who was the first player to have a pacemaker.

Let's also not forget last season where we should have been out of sight in the first half (how did Allen hit the post from three yards?) and then Blues won with a lucky deflected Jude Bellingham goal (on his home debut, of course it was) which was a goal which gave them an additional two points and effectively kept them out of the third division at the end of the season...! St Andrews is like Anfield for us, we get nothing. 1-0 Blues.

Interesting to see what the lineup is today after O Neill saying we don't have the players with the right mentality to take us forward. The season is over, so are we going to keep flogging a dead horse or give the young lads a chance to impress

We need to give some of these youngsters some extended game time. I'm not saying throw them in from the start (that would be asking too much) buy we need to start giving these lads more than just a five minute cameo.
