(Just rejoined after a while with a new name.)
I shall be in Bath (the city, not a tub of water) this weekend, and hope to find a pub showing the match on TV. A couple of years ago, when we our Cup match against Chelsea was on TV, it took me an eternity to find a pub that was showing the match and not the rugby World Cup.
Are there any Bath-based Stokies who can advise me of pubs that will be showing the match, preferably near to the city centre? Shouldn't be so difficult as last time given that there's no rugby World Cup, but Bath is very rugby focused (admitting you don't like rugby down there is a similar experience, I've found, to saying you like a bath in Burslem - response is one of complete non-comprehension.

Thanks Dave.
Looks as if there are no Stokies in Bath. Mind you, its probably compulsory to like egg-chasing to be allowed to live there!

Mate I live in Bristol and posted an earlier message asking if there was anyone around the Bristol or Bath area who'd like to see the match somewhere.
I'm sure there's somewhere they'd show the match, even if the Arsenal game is on. Depends how busy the pub is I suppose and how many are watching the Arsenal game.
I'm actually in Bath that day anyway, as am going round to my friend's afterwards for dinner.

Takes me back to when I lived in Sheffield and I used to have to ring around pubs to find if they would be playing the Stoke match. Used to go to one near Sheffs Uni which played every league match as the students of the associated clubs would always pack it out. Stoke vs Preston - after Gally's goal even the locals were joining in with the Stoke chants!

Plenty of pubs that have the SKY SPORTS SIGN UP, as they have to air a match on sky sports over any other sports channel.

Shakermaker,
Sorry I didn't see your earlier post.
I'd be happy to meeet up with you to watch the match , providing we can find somewhere showing it.
I'll be staying in the centre of Bath (Catherine Place). My 13-year old daughter will be with me. If you want to text/phone me on Sunday, my number is 07796137795.
Robin.

Try the Saracens Head which is at the top of town by Waitroses. They might put it on one of there TV's for you. They've done it for me before

Academy Starlet,
Thanks for that - know where the Saracen's Head is, and gives the outward appearance of being a proper pub that might serve ale. I'll give them a call to check first.

The Curfew 11 Cleveland Place West BA1 5DG
Will be showing the match.
Any other Stokies who'll be in Bath, may see you there.
Did phone Saracen's Head, and although I was told to ring later when the Manager would be in, was told they'd almost certainly be showing the Arsenal match.

Just decided that I'm not going to drive up to the game. I would have joined you to watch the game in Bath however there are no trains from Chippenham "bus service only" and i couldn't travel back to Chippenham after have cider on the bus i wouldn't last that long without needing the loo

Watched it in The Curfew - good ale & decent food - together with Shakermaker & his non-footie supporting friend, half a dozen Watford fabs + one neutral. Hornets fans agreed a draw was a fair result, and the match was boring.
They rate Gavin Mahon, who wasn't even on the bench, and who's referred elsewhere here as a possible target.
