The stadium itself is soulless and the surrounding area not wonderful for pre-match activities. But beats having to go to St Andrews more than once though......

I’m not sure any clubs will be allowing away fans during the first season back. They will have enough on their plates without the added stress and financial outcome of policing and football rivalry.

Disappointing, terrible stadium, miles away from nowhere, it's not really even in Coventry. Better anywhere else IMO.

Disappointing, terrible stadium, miles away from nowhere, it's not really even in Coventry. Better anywhere else IMO. I used to think that Spider but in recent visits we've spent a great couple of hours pre match at a canal side pub called the Greyhound about 25 mins walk away and a couple of hours after the match drinking in the massive Casino on the ground chatting with home fans. Top day out when we went there in the cup, well apart from the football, as usual! BM

BM We usually travel by train to away games nowadays, our Taxi ride back to the station was like getting back to London -last time we came. We were all on timed train tickets and having a few kittens about getting back. Hence my total loathing of the place. The only fond memory I have is Taggart scoring his last goal there. I can't say the same for many grounds, except probably the Madjekski (3.1 miles) oh and Nice (12km!) away from the town centre.

Direct bus travel from the railway station! much better than the route from Stoke station to the Bet 365 Stokes ground isn't exactly that accesible and like the Ricoh very near to the city boundary Biased opinion as I can be home before 6 Let's hope we are both in the same division next season

Could be worse, it could be on reclaimed land on the edge of an industrial estate under the shadow of a fucking rubbish tip and incinerator.

Not a fan of the Ricoh arena at all and to be honest and I don't think Coventry fans have a particular great affinity with it either.
Original proposal was in 97 and anticipated to have 45k seats and be completed in 01. Then there were plans for it to be 90k with bids to be new national stadium. And then with Coventry's downfall it was eventually downgraded to around 30k and delivered 4 years later in 2005.
After numerous rent disputes with the owners ACL (owned by council), the club has vacated the stadium on multiple occasions.
And now Wasps own it, a rugby team from London who spent their first 160 years in a variety of stadiums around the London area.
To me it just doesn't feel like a proper home to anyone. A bit like a holiday home in terms of football stadiums rather than a proper home.
I suppose on a positive at least they've moved back to their home city and it will make it easier for the fans to attend games.

Never had the pleasure but what was Highfield Rd like as a visit?
Drums up images of 1970s for a lot of reasons (mainly kits...) and Star Soccer but never heard it mentioned on away day talk with Stokies.

Better quality, all corners, looks finished The main stand is god awful. Looks like a metal wall with a weird arrangement of seating sticking out over the main seats below. As mentioned its a souless place inside. Id take the brit everytime time, as even though its a cheap half built poorly designed, poorly placed stadium, at least its got a bit of feeling about it. Shame they didn't stick it on the Michelin site before those offices and warehouses got built there as it would have been ideal for pubs and food outlets within walking distance.

Drums up images of 1970s for a lot of reasons (mainly kits...) and Star Soccer but never heard it mentioned on away day talk with Stokies. Highfield Road was ok, not unlike the Vic in that it was surrounded by terraced streets which all looked the same, so a major job trying to find your car after the game There was an old pub there that had two entrances, one for home fans and one for visitors...handy for the ground if nothing else Think it was one of the first all seater stadiums, which gave it a bit of a 'sanitised' feel at the time, as were were still used to standing up, how times have changed

It looks better than ours imo. Just looks complete not just random bits added on. Also the whole place has a pa system which you can actually hear and better screens. We should have filled in the boothen corner with boxes like derby
