Do we get those chaps from the Rotherham game again? Hope so.

Got a feeling they were either Rotherham fan commentators or Ex Rotherham players so guessing it'll be perhaps unlikely. Be good if they were though.

Forgetting Mike Pejic's status as a playing legend and looking at it through the filter of a listener, yesterday's effort from Radio Joke was awful and they need to move into 2021.
It was like listening to a couple of blokes chatting in a retirement village. Never has a 3-0 win sounded so dull. If it was goalless I'd have probably nodded off!

That Rotherham coverage was brilliant but let’s cut to the chase here...If our commentary recreated the Rotherham one people would say it was shite and they want somebody who will commentate in the football and not talk about birthdays
It’s a Stoke-On-Trent thing .....sadly

Matt Goodwin used to work for Barnsley hence the Barnsley references and his familiarity with ex Barnsley players, but the commentary team work for Rotherham.

I’d be surprised if it’s not Mark Crossley co-commentating with his Stoke connection, he does quite a few Barnsley/Sheff Wed games for BBC local radio over there.....

I'm confused. Have been told on here that Stoke have no option but to use local BBC radio as commentary (not that they wouldn't have taken this cheapo easy option anyway). ...... So how can other clubs like Rotherham use their own team?

So how can other clubs like Rotherham use their own team? Probably due to the amount of clubs in the radio Sheffield area.....they can’t all be covered live

Radio Stoke pull out all the stops to give extensive, equal share, coverage for tiny teams like Crewe in our area ... but I guess thats another story

I wish Pejic would pronounce people’s names correctly. Yes I know it’s only local radio but it’s downright lazy not to get somebody’s name right. It’s written down in front of you and you can hear your co-commentator pronouncing it many times correctly, how in the name of fuck can you keep getting somebody’s name wrong??

I think it's because his face is so flat that it's physically impossible for him to enunciate words properly, hence "McQueen" and "Wooton Twown".

Without meaning disrespect I just think Nigel Johnson and Micky Pejic are now outdated. When Lawrence came in he gave a more relatable coverage (I understand he now works for club so not the best option), so maybe a fairly recent ex player would be more suited. Wouldn't like the see Nigel just binned but by introducing the system Rotherham had with 3 it would take away the main focus from him and still would be able to add input.
Pejic just loves to find criticism at any opportunity.

At least they've gotten rid of Denis Smith after his behaviour in Corrie with Yasmeen.

It's weird. Rotherham have a commentary team consisting of three Nigel Johnsons talking drivel to each other for 90 minutes and people are rightly falling over themselves to say how good it was. Radio Stoke provide basically the same service and people moan that it's outdated.
I'm so thankful that we have Nige and don't have to listen to the slick, inane, headache-inducing Sky Sports types every week. If we're really lucky, we'll get somebody highlighting the bleeding obvious and unimportant by drawing arrows on an ipad. At least they're not Carragher and Neville.
I think of it like this. If TMS tried to emulate Sky Sports, it would fall flat on its face as it has nowhere near the budget to do such a thing and the listeners would all die of boredom. They take a completely different approach and they are beloved and adored for it. There's a reason that the Kenneth Wolstenholme moments from England's World Cup win all came from Aggers, rather than whoever Sky Sports put up to talk about pitch lengths on a big ipad. BBC local Radio should occupy the same space as TMS.

Some folk are just quite likeable. I don't think it's any more complicated than that.
(It was also an attractive game of football, played in a good spirit, which obviously helps).

Think Mike Pejic is very good actually. Goes through the tactics very well, sounds like moaning, often because we manage to cock situations up.

You can tell it kills Smithy to criticise, for Pej though, it's like second nature. Lennie gets it about right, l think, calls it as he sees it while all the time feeling the pain like a supporter.
