Got to say, although I can see why Gunn is being played (expensive loan to be left out) I’ve much preferred what I’ve seen of Bursik when comparing the two. He’s more confident, his distribution is better and he’s ours. I don’t think Gunn will ever be anything more than a half decent Championship keeper, whereas Bursik has the tools to go to the very top.

I agree. I was thinking that during the match. Bursik is proactive. He made a few mistakes but he was always on the front foot and plays like a sweeper. Gunn let's things develop before intervening. Bursik kicking is much better.

I feel for Joe he did amazingly well and did not deserve to be dropped. Yes he dropped the odd bollock but he did more right than wrong.

Gunn did absolutely nothing wrong today.
Bursik playing today doesn't change that result at all.

It'll make no difference whatsoever to results whoever the goalkeeper is.
All 3 are competent keepers who'll make the odd mistake and pull off the odd brilliant save. There's not a great deal between any of them IMO.

I still stand by my Ronnie Sinclair comparison...he's a deluxe Ronnie with added sweeping ability. (sounds like a new type of vacuum cleaner)

I though Bursik needed to be taken out the firing line and it was right to bring in Gunn. However for me Bursik is better, and should start Tuesday

I think that sounds awful, but look around the team selection and you see his preference happening quite often. That Davies and Bursik are better keepers don't seem to influence the manager's selection. If O'Neill's team is "in transition" he should play one of those two anyway, as they are on contract with us going forward, whereas Gunn is'nt.

With hindsight, Gunn was a bit of a pointless signing, a loan for a player who had low confidence on big money and with a number one who was well established at the time (not going to bring injuries into it as we couldn't have seen that happening) - granted, we were caught on the hop with us only getting rid of Jack at the end of the summer window, but surely, with regards to FFP, it would have made more sense to have gone down the Lonergan route, cheap, reliable and experienced, plus happy to sit on the bench ready to fill in as he did Vs Spurs knowing that we had Bursik on call if needed.

Play Bursik. Playing some extremely average loan merchant makes absolutely no sense.

Is it really down to his signings, because Brown and Thompson have both disappeared recently and im not sure if TOB is still at the club? Is it not more simply that Gunn is a bigger name than the other two and MON is going through his rebellious teenager period where he has posters of superstars on his bedroom wall, before he finally grows up and gets rid of them in favour of the more subtle, underground stars of the now and the future?

Why Bursik isn’t playing, he is not very good at stopping shots. Gunn has done nothing wrong and Davies is siignificantly safer than Bursik. Our problems are elsewhere

I wanted to see Davies back in, but Gunn has done nothing wrong. Bursik may have better distribution but the most important goalkeeping skill for a keeper is shot stopping and Bursik was poor in that area.

Davies Bursik Gunn
In that order. Davies was playing with confidence at the start of the season, results were good and our defence looked comfortable and confident with the keeper. I thought Gunn could have done better with the first goal today, it certainly wasn't in the corner and even the second goal he was rooted to the spot after Fox's fuck up.

Bursik is great at much of his game. I think he can pass well and he talks a lot, which is good for a young keeper. He is not a great shot stopper and that really needs to improve! Gunn wasn’t at fault for any today.

Ha-ha, that image seems downright realistic. Yes my theory is not waterproof, although you could say that the reason Brown and Thompson have been given so many chances is because they are among his favourites. Matondo, though, seems to have been afforded little leeway, and that is probably one of the better MON decisions of late, although he did approve of the loan to begin with.

Feel sorry for Davies. We played our best football under MON when he finally replaced Butland. Don't think Gunn looks any better.

I think it goes in this order for recent selection criteria 1) How much column inches player has had during his career 2) Who signed player 3) Are they Welsh, Irish or at least have a hint of ginger
