After watching that shit today I actually thought about knocking it on the head...then I remember the days out with the lads on the train...on the "mongey" bus...in the back of a transit van. Am I a football fan or a piss head who likes a day out with his mates????🤣🤣🤣

I think watching football in lockdown makes you realise that the best bits of the match day ritual don't involve the actual 90 minutes.........

I'm actually quite enjoying lockdown football. I don't have to leave my house, can choose whether to buy the stream or not, can turn it on at 2.59pm and back off again straight after and it takes very little out of my weekend. I can even get up and go for a comfortable shit in peace.
It's certainly opened my eyes to a life outside of football, of which they have been closed to for many, many years.

The home games I go because I sit with my mucker, we have a laugh and we keep that bond. But the football is absolute tripe. Will I go back to going... I really don’t know. I’d rather go for a beer and something eat with me muckers than watch that shit

Nearly entirely the footy for me, non of my mates even support Stoke to be fair. When I'm at away fans I go alone, though obviously get bevvied with Stoke fans.
I love football, watch as much as I can of tonnes of leagues and teams.

Thing is, the majority of matches do not live up to what you're hoping they'll deliver. On the other hand, the day as a whole (trip there, pub pre-match, pub post-match, trip back) are generally always exactly as enjoyable as you're expecting them to be. (I speak as an ex-pat who often had to travel further to a home game than away). So on average, the whole match day experience is not as positive under lockdown as it usually is.

Wearing a mask Sitting 2 metres from your mates Not being able to celebrate a goal (when we can be arsed to score) Sitting in a sterile atmsophere. Not for me.

I'm definitely not a football fan. I hate politics and corruption so that's me out and the game is absolutely riddled with inequity in addition to being rife with various values that I simply cannot agree with. Stoke tho, and my own team, I want to be ambitious and do well for a number of reasons -heritage, culture, local pride, selfish competitive reasons too. But the abject failings of the club of recent are nothing short of embarrassing.

Oh dear Nick, hope you get your kicks somewhere and somehow - it probably doesn’t cheer matters coming on ere with this cheery lot though! 😂 What ever it means for who ever and how ever though - especially in weird alienating times such as these is that places like weird ass fan forums such as this become a meeting place and a new way of (re)creating a community. For all those that just associate and counteracted the awful dreary footy with the good time piss ups with mates and co - great stuff 👍🏼 Be good to endeavour and try to create an online collective hub that people can turn to especially in these isolating and segregating times. Just imagine being back stuck on a bus with a bunch of these Oaty posters on here for a few hours, the stop off for the bathroom break would be a suicidal bloodbath!

Last seasons away schedule was meet at the pub for 7am...three pints later leave on the coach about 8am and have a laugh at the antics on the coach...I won’t go into that ! Get to the away town about 11am ish and straight into a boozer...six or seven pints later back on the coach to the match...usually missing kick off....by almost an hour on one occasion! Pint in the concourse and another at half time usually forgetting all about the match. Two weeks later do it all again. Happy days they really are.

With lockdown and nothing to look forward too apart from the football bad results seem to increase emotions 10fold in normal circumstances we'd go back the pub chew over the fat and move on, now we come on here and fans are baying for blood.
As I've said before and what you allude too that a matchday is far more than 90 minutes.
