There's always very limited coverage of leavers from the 18s/23s. Absolutely nothing about Akanji, Ireland and Godfrinne, three of our stars of previous years.

Pretty sure that Godfrinne is back at the club. www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andre-godfrinne/leistungsdaten/spieler/712103He was figuring again for the u18s in December. Ireland is a mystery though. Transfermarkt have him playing a game for West Ham u18 earlier this season, but not sure if that's true. Certainly doesn't look to have signed a contract there. Same with Akandji - just seems to have disappeared without reappearing anywhere else

Varian has moved to the right from the look of it. Goodwin looks massive. Good! We could do with a forward who punches his weight! I remember watching Duncan Edwards play a few months before Munich - two of my uncles supported Man U and took me to Old Trafford. For a youngster he was amazingly imposing and played like someone with far more experience. I've been hoping for Stoke to find a youngster with that sort of maturity ever since. I'm hoping to see the next "John Ritchie" in a couple of years time...or maybe sooner

Why has Wright Phillips moved - to just play in under 23's?
Or is he now being saved for bench on Sat?

I don't know, but depending on how much he has played at all at Citeh's academy, he needs to be in shape, so for him it was just a run out. He's probably being eased in, as MON does with all young players.

He was bought for the 23s. I would imagine he was subbed because he hasn’t played much this season.

There's nothing stopping it paperwork wise I don't think. But it just depends on where he's at talent wise and luck re injuries I guess. His finish yesterday was excellent, he did have a quite a bit of time but it felt strange as it was so clinical and the complete opposite to anything bar Campbell in the first team!

Yes, he and Goodwin were signed when the transfer window was still open. And, as they are under 21 (and not on loan) they don't need to be named in the 25 man first team squad - they can simply be included in match day squads if and when the manager chooses to include them. Whatever else MON does, he can't be accused of being afraid to include youngsters in the match squad if he likes them. So there must be a reasonable chance that Wright Phillips and/or Goodwin (and possibly other U21 players?) will make the bench on at least one occasion before the end of the season.

Could MWP be one of those mysterious de Laet type signings? Could we be harbouring him for another club?

But were they signed by MON or Russell/Owen? The latter have made a number of signings (technically it was Jennings before he went upstairs in the big house) over the years, some which were highlighted in the local press and some weren't, but they never came anywhere near the first team and disappeared without a trace, again some reported and some not.

Does it matter? Neither Collins, Campbell nor Souttar were signed by MON - that hasn't stopped any of them from becoming first team regulars at what (by Stoke City standards) is a very young age. If he thinks they are good enough he will no doubt give Goodwin and/or Wright-Phillips their chance and if he does feel they are good enough, recent evidence suggests he won't feel that they need to play in the U23s for years to earn the chance.

Yes, two well taken goals. But would it have been so difficult to put a commentary on this short video instead of that annoying sound track?
I wasn't very impressed by the camera position - I watched it on a 15 inch laptop and it felt like I was watching two teams of ants.
Did we use the video filmed by Burnley to create the goals package? At Clayton wood the camera work is usually far better - even though we still don't get a commentary.

That's not quite the same (Campbell for instance was bought for a 7-figure fee), and anyway Collins and Campbell had already been picked for the first team by previous managers and Souttar had been sent out on loan also by previous management. He's quite "old" by your standards. They were all groomed for the first team. A couple of years ago we signed a leftback from Citeh, Ryan Corrigan. He was signed because we had no other leftback in the u-18, but no one ever expected him to walk into the first team - apart from Corrigan himself. It never happened, as it didn't with many other academy prospects, even though hopes were high for some of them. I'd be happy if these two lads were to make the grade here, but they have been here for a week, for christ's sake. Let's see wjat they do over a prolonged period, if they fit in with the MON ethics and the academy team group . I'd say there are currently at least six players ahead of them in the queue. O'Neill has them on his radar, as someone put it, but for more than eight months none of them have come near to selection by him.

There were some darker color ants battling maroon-colored ants to the background of some kind of elevator music. The ball kept streaking around at odd angles and at very high altitude. The darker ants looked pretty good - I hope they were our ants.
