just plainly slow off the mark in the transfer market again?
i'm not panicing just yet, but as you see sides around us investing, you wonder when we will begin to start signing players.
I'm sure/hope signings are imminent, and i totally agree in us not wasting the money and investing it with the right players, but surely we must have had a list of targets drawn up before the season even finished?
I have full-faith in Pulis he bought very well last season, and most of all took us up, so i'm sure he'll begin to sign soon, but we can't have the excuses of not being able to attract players to the club, or not having the finances to do so because we have the money, and the premiership status.
I don't want the signings to begin 2 weeks shy of the start of the season, because the players wont have time to gel as a unit.
We were slow in the transfer market last season, but we still had a historic season and achieved alot more than many expected, if we stay up this season, it's very much job done in my eyes.
But the amount of transfer activity of the next few months will really in my opinion give us a big insentive into our chances of surivival, invest with the right players and who knows we could even finished 15th + but don't invest with the right players and we will no doubt be in for a very long relegation threatening season.

I'm sure we did have a list of targets but (like almost every other club) the deals are mostly not going to get done until around the end of the month or in July. For players whose contracts run out at the end of June that is the time we will sign them. For other players, getting their clubs to agree to sell depends upon that club getting in a replacement as often as not. A further complication is that many managers will be at Euro 2008 and a lot of deals will have to wait until the tournament ends or reaches the closing stages.
TP is in the States this week which rather suggests that he doesn't think this week is going to be a major week for developments.
Patience is a virtue we must all learn to embrace!

Plenty of time yet. We obviously have to ensure that the money TP is given (I don't think we know how much that is) is going to be spent on players that will keep us in the Premiership and that we do not end up going straight back down. No-one on here wants that.

we cant official sign anyone til the 1st july anyways thats when the transfer window opens its just that all the deals being completed by our rivals are being announced to warn off other clubs. if it gets to 30th july and noone has signed then we should be looking at panicing.
i'm not worried in the slightest at the lack of transfer dealings come back to me on 30th july having signed no one and it may be a different story

Are you sure that is correct? Take a look at Fulham for instance:
Fulham sign Andranik from Bolton Andranik Teymourian joined Bolton Wanderers in 2006 Fulham manager Roy Hodgson has continued to add to his squad with Iranian Andranik Teymourian the latest to join the ranks at Craven Cottage.
Midfielder Andranik becomes Hodgson's fourth signing of the summer with Zolton Gera, Mark Schwarzer and David Stockdale also arriving at the club.
The 25-year-old arrives from Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer.
Andranik started his career at with Iranian side Oghab FC and has played for the national team at every level.
It says they have "signed"

I can’t see much happening till July, they have a list and I am sure are also waiting to see who maybe available after the Euros have finished. Though it would be great to see a couple of players who have done well in the European Championships arrive, we have to be careful, players who look quality in good sides at major Championships are not always quite as enthusiastic at Wigan on a cold November afternoon.
I would hope most of the homework has been done on their targets by now and it’s just a matter of deciding which players would fit into the team structure. I do hope they have at least two or three players scouted for each position they want to strengthen, a realistic target an acceptable second choice and possibly a slightly less realistic but never the less no harm in asking target, as you just never know, who would have thought we could had signed Shtaniuk or Hoekstra when we were in the old third division. There’s always those one or two players who think, yes I could really make a name for myself there and help them survive.
I think affording a player isn’t the issue, there’s a lot of players who are decent we could afford in terms of meeting a fee and maybe even meeting their wage demands, though that doesn’t mean they as individuals would be willing to risk a potential relegation battle when they will have other options available. I would be more concerned if we haven’t brought in some quality signings by the end of July, then it might be a little more worrisome. Then we would only have a month to secure the signatures needed to take us through to the January transfer window opens again. I believe we’re being a little shrewd and wanting the right type of player and getting a little value for money, it’s more about attitude as much as it is ability, we could pick up some top player who may come with a big time Charley attitude and an escape clause, that isn’t what we need to survive next season, so I would rather see some hungry talented young player with a point to prove if it takes a little time, then so be it.
If Manchester United are struggling to hold into Ronaldo, then not sure we can complain about waiting a little longer for major signings.

;D ;D ;D
sorry Formy mate I was still stunned at having to read that other board for a few minutes my fingers still feel corrupted. I was in awe of all those Wigan supporters who seem to have slipped through the education dragnet.
I am also busy writing a short description of war and peace got it up to 3,000 pages so far and still not dealt with peace. ;D
I will try much harder next time.

I think it's great to see we have not wasted a single penny so far. If the current progress continues, we will have shrewdly made a £60 million profit this time next year.

i think pulis still has his championship head on, years gone by we usually make a couple of signings then try pick up loan players during the season, unfortunatly we aint got that time now were in the prem, we need have a strong side from the outset, so we can compete straight away and pick up points where possible. hurry up pulis or we will be another derby.
