Everyone expects us to.People have suggested that we will be down by Christmas etc. Record lowest points total. Being underestimated is a good position to start a campaign.
But... if we do struggle, what do you think would be some good policies for the club to adopt?
Standing by the manager would be a good start. A man whose not worried about losing his job will be better placed to push for promotion again.

I think we should adopt the right mental attitude right from the start. We will enjoy the season whatever happens for a variety of reasons: We are premier league we are underdogs and victories will be sweet When we get beaten it will be by quality You could argue we are 'punching above our weight' The club is £60M richer if we plummet back down we will be strong next season if we survive the feeling will be better than a promotion We are Stoke - and you cant get better than that. ;D

If we do worse than Derby I'm leaving the country never to return. I'm surrounded by Rams fans where I live, life would be just shite!

Let's be realistic about this- in the entire history of the Premiership and indeed the old first division before- one team has had such a disatrous season yet folk are so quick to band this term around as they claim it will happen again- ridiculous when you think about it. It shows for me a) the arrogance of some top flight supporting 'fans' b) their total lack of knowledge of the game. Example was last night- an Arsenal fan asked me what division Stoke were in On telling him he asked who we beat in the play offs and then who our manager was . To cap it all despite not knowing anything about us he he of course predicted 'you'll do a Derby.' I disagreed- said we'd win bugger all though trophy wise which meant 'we'll do an Arsenal' to which he sodded off.

We need to go tempt pulis to become an alcoholic if we're gonna do a derby, and tehn hes gotta go upset coates, I think even if tone went and killed off all coates' family he would still like him at the end of the day lol

we will not ''do a derby''. we will not be surrender monkeys like the sheep shagers. they put the white flag up even before the season started.

Derby were tragic and the trauma of their seaosn could linger with them for ages.
Watford went down the season before BUT with dignity. They won a few games and gave some top clubs a hard time.
Unlike Derby we have the sheer dogged reslience to dig out a filthy 0-0 at Newcastle or somewhere when its pissing down.

Still kept on going to the end of the 84-85 season so all emotions have been battered beyond reason, next season will be a stroll in the park

although Derby got less points e.t.c. than Stoke in 84-85 I cant beleive their side was worse than that one.
whatever happens we can take it. no point sacking the manager in that scenario either
I dont think we will finish bottom but survival is going to be very very tough.

Stand by Tone definitely (I'll sit personally) and frankly get as hard and dirty as we need to be. That was Derby's problem imho, no real backbone and whatever eleven we start the season with we're not going to be short of that.

Apart from anything else, why does anyone think we do worse than Hull (or indeed the Baggies, now that they've seen fit to dispense with Gera) - if both of them strengthen significantly more effectively than us we might have a problem, but otherwise???
If we insist on looking at the likelihood of finishing near the bottom then the reality is that we've only got to do better than 3 teams, and Hull and the Baggies ought to be two of 'em!
