Terrible news, only 52. Was a constant thorn in our sides in the 90's. RIP x

No age whatsoever. He was a bugger for full backs.
RIP Johnny Jeffers

I don't know anything about the player, but I've read he was part of the Stockport side which made that amazing journey to the semis of the League Cup 24 years ago. I remember rooting for Stockport at the pub with my Boro supporting mate!
Any ideas of the cause of death?

Tragic. Very good player in a Vale team that were better than us at the time.

A very good, talented player during a 'golden' era for Vale.
Can remember standing at Vale Park, soaked to the bone, miserable as 'owt, watching him slalom his way through our defence only to hit the post with a rasper of a shot."They may be a bunch of unwashed c*nts but that deserved to be a goal.." was my mate's observation.
Much too young,RIP.

JJ was a very good signing for them up the road. I think that he was a John Rudge signing from Liverpool ?. Apart from our rivalry with our smaller neighbours I am sending my condolences to JJ's family at this sad time. RIP JJ.

Awful news, as a Vale fan here in peace, we thank you for your respect to a great player. Any true Vale fan would be the same for any Stoke City player. Good luck for the rest of the season.

I remember rooting for Stockport at the pub with my Boro supporting mate! Yeah, he was in the same Stockport side as Paul Ware for a while when they were doing well under Dave Jones.

Jinking Johnny Jeffers RIP he was some winger tbf. He was that good that when any good winger (as I was😏) when I was playing in my illustrious career, had a good game I’d say “God he’s like Johnny Jeffers this youth”🤣

Was Guppy on the other wing ? as much as it pains me to say this you had a more than decent team back then just make sure you don't do it again seriously so sad and no age at all RIP John.

Nah Guppy on the left McCarthy on the right if I remember rightly. Jeffers I think was just before those?
