I have a collection of coloured vinyl singles stuck on my wall, most which are pleasingly red or white.

I used to go around car boots as they were packing up and offer people a fiver or so for a box of records to save them lugging them back. They were mainly utter shite, but found some real gems that way.

It’s amazing what you can find , Charity shops used to be good but they have wised up and some go way over the top on prices ..

They discovered Record Collector Magazine used prices book, and bargains are few and far between now. I think the only bargains you get are for unheralded bands that you like and are priced accordingly.

I persevered with vinyl long after cds came along and even when it was restricted to a very few specialist record shops. One in Edinburgh, one in Perth and one in Dundee and that was pretty much it for the east coast of Scotland! Even those used to sell regular albums as double LPs which I think was so they could charge you more and to highlight the convenience of a cd, where you didn't have to flip the thing over three times as you did with a vinyl double album!
A few years ago I sold them all. Completely unpredictable what they'd go for. Some I wrote off as pretty niche and unlikely to sell went for quite a bit, one Fall LP sticks in my mind as going to Poland for best part of £100 (I think it was The Infotainment Scan for any Fall fans out there) and a set of limited edition 10inch Smiths LPs being bought by someone in Japan for a similar figure.
Good to see that vinyl has made a strong comeback.

I’ve got a decent collection going at the moment, will only be adding more as the years go by. I’d like Poppy Ackroyd’s albums next, a Stokie on Twitter introduced me to her, some fab neo-classical. I also need some Fleshgod Apocalypse albums, so complete opposites Funnily enough I was actually updating my Discogs last week to include all my LP’s and 7’s, a median value of around £1800. So a fair whack, and I got some bloody good deals on some pickups as well. Highest value item being the original press of Sgt.Peppers Lonely Hearts Club. As for charity shops, I never find anything of interest. Best pickup was Innuendo - Queen at an oxfam. Other than that, I’ll shop down Strand Records owned by the amazing Ken, top bloke and super friendly (and a Stoke fan!), I’ll probably try and order the Fleshgod stuff for delivery from him.
