Bournemouth condemn ‘disgusting’ racial abuse of Junior Stanislas - Cherries’ chief executive reacts to online post after win at Stoke - ‘It is completely unacceptable and must be called out’ Sun 3 Jan 2021 12.59 GMT Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake has condemned the racial abuse directed at Junior Stanislas following Saturday’s away win at Stoke, calling it “disgusting and completely intolerable”. Stanislas was subjected to racist slurs and insults about his family by an individual on Twitter after scoring the Cherries’ winning goal in the 1-0 Championship victory. Blake vowed to do all the club can in identifying the person concerned and wants the “strongest possible action” taken against them. “It is both disgusting and completely intolerable that anyone could be subjected to the racial abuse that Junior has received,” said Blake in a statement. “I am astounded that people believe writing and posting these comments is acceptable. We will be contacting Twitter and the Football Association for their help in identifying the individual concerned, and will pursue the strongest possible action against them. “We strongly believe that social media platforms need to take greater responsibility and accountability for the actions of their users and the content that is published on their platforms. “We would wholeheartedly support any movement towards ensuring that all social media accounts are verified through formal identification, and therefore make the users liable for their actions. “The club’s stance on any form of discrimination is unequivocal. It is completely unacceptable and must be called out and acted upon whenever and wherever it is found. “We are a club which celebrates equality, diversity and inclusion, as highlighted by our ongoing ‘Everyone Together’ campaign, which tackles prejudice and promotes understanding. We stand firmly with Junior and will continue to work tirelessly to educate and rid the game of all forms of discrimination.” amp.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/03/bournemouth-condemn-disgusting-racial-abuse-of-junior-stanislas-stoke-city?utm_term=Autofeed&CMP=twt_gu&utm_medium=&utm_source=Twitter&__twitter_impression=true

My first thought was that it was one of their fans tbh having a go because of his performance and then being a racist dickhead with it.
Would seen no reason for any Stoke fan to have a go at him because of the game tbh?

Owning a phone is a privilege and inappropriate use, like driving a car badly or recklessly, should lead to a ban. It's the only way some will learn

Not sure why it'd be a Stoke fan.
We're not exactly rivals

He looked a threat throughout, wouldn't mind seeing him in a Stoke shirt!!!
It's one thing grumbling about a player if it's totally football related, and he's had a bit of a mare..... But there's NO reason whatsoever to bring racism into it!!!
If they root the person responsible out, then he deserves everything he gets!!!

A court order will get his IP address and identifying him should be easy enough. Was the tweet racist?. I only ask because the term seems to have become elastic. If it was then it is totally wrong and the tweeter should be punished appropriately.

I use PayPal and when making a payment they now send a code to my mobile phone which I have to enter on their site before they will authorise payment. Surely all Social Media sites should have to validate their users.

Also mentions Bournemouth but categorically no reference to the match against us

I don't think its stupid. Even idiots (who may well be slow learners) need to know that they will be held to account for their actions.

Over 1500 racist messages sent to footballers in May 2020, 50% of this targeted at 3 players (Sterling, Zaha, Akinfenwa) I agree but I think it is not right to blame social media. When a person post something on here, or social media, or any platform they are publishing material, and there should be responsibilities that come with it and consequences for posting something that is abusive. I think people are the problem not twitter imho
