We are all happy as fuck when we win; laughing, joking and maybe shag the wife.....!!!!! but when we lose what is life like for you...
I’m getting better with age but, I remember days when life was ruined by Stoke, work was shit, i’d fall out with any one who wanted an argument, I would probably drink more as well..!!!!
Matchday would come around and I would wake up all happy and charged up, go to the game and repeat the process..!!!
My Mrs doesn’t help by saying “ never mind it’s only a game, let’s go shopping “ ffs I was mad 😡
What’s life like when we’ve lost ...???

Not very well. Especially when you just knew Vokes would fook it up with that pen and we would go on to lose inevitably .

I'm sure that a bad result keeps some of us awake, like now. Just sat considering the implications of the Cardiff result. A lot of us expected that the match might be a game too far for a tired, injury hit, team, with a loss being the likely result, but that doesn't make it any easier. Especially with everything that could go wrong then doing so. A missed penalty, poor defending, an injury to a key player, an unnecessary booking, and defeat to a team that is looking increasingly likely to be challenging at the top. You wouldn't have scripted it.
Now working through a bottle of wine, whilst intermittently scouring the heavens to see what's about. Calms me down. (Thinking about Stoke City, the mysteries of Life, are we alone in the Universe, how do you explain the existence of Port Vale, and so on.)

I don't find it that hard. We have had a few years practice.
On to the next one, still in the top half... At the moment 😕

It depends. Some are worse than others. The worst are the ones where you come up against a lesser team and due to a mixture of bad luck (Campbell injury) and personal mistakes (Vokes) you throw the game away. It’s not so bad when you lose to the better team.

Like the OP I have got better with age.
Last night is an exception that I will have hopefully come to terms with by Saturday.

Usually a couple of hours venting my spleen then I’m over it and looking forward to the next game. But games like last night are particularly frustrating when we should have put the game to bed.....

I don't find it that hard. We have had a few years practice. We’ve had far too much practice in recent years! If you find it hard to deal with I suggest avoiding this message board for a day or two, one loss is not the end of the world as some on here would have you believe.

I find defeats at home harder to take than away defeats, especially ones like last night which were completely avoidable. The penalty miss was a disaster and sunk us. If we play well but lose to the better team that's one thing, but to gift wrap 3 points for the opposition is criminal.
Away defeats i can handle far better as my expectations are far far lower, mainly due to hope rather than expecting a win.

I can handle defeats if we’ve been beat by a better side and deserve to lose. However last night has really pissed me off. We were in total control against a very average side, we put that pen away and we cruise home. That would have left us in an unbelievable position considering our injuries. Yet tonight we can drop down the table with 2 tough away fixtures to come.
Yes I’m still bloody fuming

Yeah 2-3 seasons of dross has meant that handling defeat has become much much easier.
But last night was a difficult one to take, given the manner of the defeat, even though you could see it coming.
How we contrived to gift wrap that came for Cardiff takes some thinking.
So yeah, still very angry this morning.

Seen enough bad times the affect has worn off, I just carry on as normal, unless we've been shat on by a referee then I get a bit frustrated for a couple of hours

I’m with Clyde on this one, they were garbage which makes it all the more galling😡 Last minute defeats are the ones that get me the most usually but with age I’ve mellowed considerably unless of course there’s another 4-0 loss to Derby County😮😄

Very pragmatic about last night. I felt after the last two matches (when I was angry about the lack of protection our players received) Stoke just ran out of steam after half time and once Campbell went off I thought it would give Cardiff such a fillip. Never thought one goal would be enough, was delighted that we managed to conjure a penalty but when I saw who was taking it didn't expect it to go in, another boost to Cardiff and even then they needed our help to score. I was pleased our heads didn't drop like in recent seasons at that point and that proved to me that we are on the upward curve.

First they try and gift wrap it for us with an OG and a Pen, then it’s like we say, no you don’t want to do that, we’ll gift wrap it for you instead. It was a proper contest about who could be the most inept which we just about came out on top in. BM

Totally gutted about losing that we were coasting the penalty would have seen them crumble if we had scored. Will we get another chance to make the top two i somehow doubt it & see defeat again on Saturday to the fat wanker Rooney.

It can take the edge of highs and likewise after a win add to them and can last 24 to 48hours. Some games more than others depends of who you get the most stick.
Watching on Sky or a screen is so different than from normal matchday life living it with the crowd and seeing it threw your own eyes the highs and lows are so much more real.

I never forget the Chelsea match the first season in Prem when we lost two goals right at end of match after being 1-0 up. I was fuming for days. Yes, the way the defeat happened was painful but losing away at Chelsea was hardly a shock, in fact I think the words ‘bonus game’ were in fashion at the time. Generally I find defeats in this league and god forbid the league below a lot harder to deal with than when we were in the Prem. That’s because it’s so disappointing when we lose against teams we think we should be beating. We didn’t have that so much in the Premier League and looking back now I think 8 of the 10 seasons were pretty serene, for a win some lose some, ride the waves, way of thinking. BM
