They got promoted in 1990 with a midfield of Batty, Vinnie Jones and Chris Kamara.

... always remember him fondly as a nasty little fcuker, a bit like Ben Pearson I remember him for missing a pen at France 98 I remember as Batty ran up the commentator said: “Kevin, is he going to score?” Kevin Keegan replied “yes” at the exact moment Batty missed. You don’t get that kind of drama with your Gary Nevilles.

In the great Leeds team of the late 60's Johnny Giles was as good a player as you could hope to see, fantastically skilful but wow he was also hard and dirty. Like a rich man's version of Graeme Souness.

He was an honest and likeable player but in the 90s England capped Batty 42 times , Carlton Palmer 18 times and Matt le tissier 8 times .
Something is amiss there
That's like Pirlo spending a decade at the top to gather together a handful of Italy caps .Or Luka modric spending a decade at the top to gather together a handful of Croatia caps .
Anyone who has seen me play , can guarantee that I am definitely not Matt le tissier , but I can't help feel a little sorry for the bloke . It's fair to say lesser players , played ahead of him .

The only soft thing in that team was Sprakes goalkeeping Sprake .. careless hands .after he threw the ball into his own goal at Liverpool ... Liverpool DJ played careless hands at half time ..and the Kop sung it throughout the 2nd half .. believe he played fantastically in the 2nd half and at the end the Kop applauded him He showed he had a sense of humour though as he called his biography ‘ Careless hands’ my favourite in the Leeds team was Mick Jones , who dislocated his elbow in the 72 cup final

I’ll reword it then to less disliked 😊

But.. I always had a grudging respect and like for Paul Madeley. What a player. Right back, centre half and midfielder. Reckon a lot of Leeds success was due to his ability to slot into any of those positions with consummate ease. Magnificent professional.

I believe Alan Hansen had a big part on Matt Le Tissier not playing more for England than he did. He constantly ripped him on match of the day for being to lazy and people bought into his opnion, he was completely wrong, a great player and great to watch, who scored plenty of goals that were contenders for goal of the season.
