Crewe boss Steve Holland is determined to hold onto striker Nicky Maynard.
Maynard has been linked with Middlesbrough and Stoke City, but Holland told BBC Radio Stoke: "I want to bring in more firepower as my aim is to avoid a repeat of last season."

Hmm not so sure about this one, he's ok at League One level but taking the step up to the Prem maybe a little much, we need a proven striker who will score us 15+ goals, I don't think he is the answer, it's not the time for gambles.

Yeah, think its a case of big fish, little pond. In the prem think we would have a kevin phillips. Nil points.

Hes not really a gamble though is he? A million quid with small wages is hardly going to dent our budget. 16 goals in 24 games says hes more than ok in League 1. We should be bringing him in as soon as....

Sign him Tone. I'd rather us bring someone in like Maynard who is young and hungry and can develop with the other young lads we've got than sign mercenaries like Kevin Phillips. Harewood & Maynard would do me nicely ;D

Suppose it depends on the price tag, but we are certainly going to need some strength in depth this season and he would certainly be a good bench option...............we'llneed to score between 40 and 60 goals next year and Pericard and Parkin can only do so much!!!

No offence fellas- a player from Crewe!!!!!!!!
Why not sign a dead body from Nantwich crematorium?????
Unproven in the championship- could sign an experienced released striker plus wages for that
Would rather have Bill Maynard
How do you know he's young and hungry???? Agree sod Phillips though
Bollox to a non leage combo like Crewe

£1m buys you almost next to nothing for strikers. Phillips signing on fee alnoe would be around that.
like I say as a fourth choice striker his apparant potential would suggest he is worth it

Would be an 09/10 signing for me. This season, I doubt he'd have any impact on us staying up.
