Blame the biased media! It was the Chief Exec of Fisheries UK Ltd who was complaining that the government had screwed the fishermen, not some moaning Remainer! As usual you miss the point. "Of course our media don’t look too deeply into this type of story preferring to stick with tabloid level simplistic journalism that they know appeals to people who like to seize on uncritical anti-Brexit or anti-Government stories". Not sure I did. At least not the usual one

Try that link I shared for starters.

Well I actually think it’s quite simple The article is about a multi national owner of a massive despoiler of the sea Whinging like fuck because they haven’t got there usual access in a deal Whilst Norwegian despoilers of the sea can’t decimate the north Scottish fish stocks Oh and the winners the small independent fisherman the small guy getting a small victory over the big boys what’s not to like

It seems he is in favour of giant corporations destroying the environment. Or at least sees petty semantic point scoring as being of greater importance.

Not really, you were quite obviously making a couple of points, one of which was to blame the media reporting. In fact it was the largest bit of your original response! I never said anything about giant corporations at all! Simply quoted what the head of UK Fisheries thought about how the govt has treated the fishermen. There's a neat irony in a dyed in the wool Tory decrying the impact of capitalism on the environment. Haven't exactly been comfortable bedfellows previously. And Tories are generally not that keen on letting the environment get in the way of profit usually! Semantics can be quite important, like understanding the difference between death rates and death tolls, which gave you a spot of bother previously ;-)

What the Hell is going on in Jersey ?
Don’t know the facts but the headlines are alarming.
It would have been easier to declare WAR and drop a bomb on these bastards several years ago.
It would be sorted by now.

It would be sorted by now. There's time yet Macron is shitting it because he's losing his job according to all the French polls and then some French retired military generals were talking up a coup. He's trying to look "hard" to desperately rescue himself.

This "fantastic deal for the country" seems somewhat less fantastic than the Bluffer promised, doesn't it!

Oh well, I'm sure it's just "teething problems" And all so utterly avoidable. On the plus side, at least the Tory party is still in one piece, so that's good.

linkFrench fishing vessels approaching Jersey was like an invasion, says fisherman"Jersey fisherman Josh Dearing said French vessels had first gathered from about 4.30am outside the harbour, before moving into the harbour after 6am and retreating shortly after 7am." He later goes on to say : "Mr Dearing, who said his fishing licence costs about £40,000, said French fishermen who have not been granted a licence to fish had “thrown their toys out of the pram”. He said: “Jersey fisheries has done nothing wrong. They’ve issued the permits to the French fisherman that were entitled to them and the ones that aren’t entitled don’t get the permits and that’s just life, that’s how it is. “The guys that have historical rights [to fish] have been granted them, as they should’ve done, and the ones that haven’t have just thrown their toys out of the pram.”

French Poodle v British Bulldog (again) It is sad that it has come this. I wonder how many French and British realise that the Channel Islands are not, and never have been part of the EU or its previous forms.

Its been pretty tense in the Seas around Jersey today as French Fishermen protest about new rules on fishing rights in the local waters. Ships of the British Royal Navy, sponsored by BET365, have a presence in the area, and are said to be "Monitoring" the Situation.

Hopefully this situation will help to highlight the complete farce manufactured by European and in particular French politicians who vindictively seek to punish the UK for leaving the EU.
Due to their vindictive attitude Channel Island fishermen can not land their catches in France, their normal principal market.
Let’s not forget the Scottish and Welsh shellfish industry prevented from dealing with the customers that they have dealt with for generations by Macrons obvious and undisguised hatred.
In the meantime EU factory fishing vessels continue to plunder not only our waters, but destroy our seabed’s without sanction from Westminster.

Flag shagging and threatening to cut off an island's electric supply in a Diva-esque display of petulance not seen since the wrong flowers were sent to Elton John's dressing room?
Goodness me, some members of this forum would be writing reams about the subject if it had been the horrible English who had been sabre-rattling like this!
