Sorry this is late, nothing to do with the result just my rubbish time management. So, just plain old school caught cold first half - outplayed, outthought, our keeper situation exploited - not a lot Mick could do about the last of those but the first two, yes. But then a proper SCFC fighting second half when sadly we just had too much catching up to do. Norwich are a good side for sure but I don't see them as champs at the end of the season, we've had better opposition.
7 sound fair on balance?

Should have started Cousins
Awful long ball tactics
Game lost after the second goal .

7 mainly for the fight back. Unfortunately the keeper crisis as dealt him a real bum hand. Just got to make the best of it until we can get one of them back. Bit early to say but I think it’s going to cost us a play off place 😡

5 set up on the wrong foot again, yes we let them have the ball in certain areas but too slow to react when it's in the area we don't want them to have it, we need a bit more tempo/urgency maybe with fans this would come naturally as we'd chant for it.

if it aint broke dont fix it
We'd won 3 out of 4 - and with the defeat down to the ref - playing a back 4.
Just why go back to a 3 at the back? It wasn't working before so it was mad to change things and that's helped the first half shit that we watched.
1 - his mad decision resulted in the defeat.

I was surprised after Saturday that he didn't try to protect Bursik more by playing 5 at the back and think it was a mistake against Puki to play so high a line. He really is excellent at timing his runs and although he looked well offside for the third I suspect he wasn't. I also expected him to play an extra man in midfield by dropping Brown. Playing Tymon was a mistake.
Substitutions all worked apart from Vokes who just doesn't seem to fit in and gets in the way in the box.

Just read that we started with 3 centre halve which presumably means Tymon was supposed to be left back/wing back. You could have fooled me there - he never seemed to be doing anything defensively

6. But it’s a 6 if we win generally. He’s got to get away from his NI Mindset.

We're a bit of a Frankenstein's monster of a side and I don't envy MON, who's doing overall a decent job trying to figure out how all the moving parts work.
The high pressing from the front players (which was curiously absent last night) has been a brilliant addition and the interplay between Fletcher, Powell and Ty is tremendous at times. Those three are all absolutely essential.
But some of the stuff that facilitates that weakens us elsewhere. The high defensive line is fatal when you have the lack of pace in our back line plus the general doziness of the likes of Batth and Smith. Ty is a lethal finisher and I actually think he's better out wide, but he isn't going to help his full back much (and would arguably lose a lot of what makes him so effective if he did), so we need to find a way of covering the left back or LWB.
The midfield is a real problem as Clucas, Mikel and even Thompson all have their qualities but not one of them offers any protection and we're getting absolutely done in midfield seemingly every game. There's so little protection at a time we've never needed it more with a 20-year old keeper between the sticks. Do we reintroduce Cousins, who's limited but at least does that holding job and will get in the way a bit?
Last night was largely awful for an hour - playing that sort of high line against Pukki and Buendia was asking for trouble and I don't understand why we didn't have the strikers press their defence more. But the positives are again that we've instilled the fight to try and claw our way back, even if the red card helped us massively to do that, and that we're creating chances now.
Hard to give higher than a 6, but it's a tough trade off MON is facing and I'm really not sure how, with this squad, those problems get fixed for a while yet. In that context we're doing really well to be where we are and for him to be getting what he is out of the squad.

Much work is needed at the back. It's not MON's fault that both of our keepers are injured but he needs to stop us leaking so many goals, we've seen it a few times this season that any ball over the top causes chaos in our defence, and we shouldn't play such a high line as we don't have the pace to recover when our offside trap is broken.
It's not all negative though, we really went for it in the second half and nearly got something out of the game against a very good team in this division. When we're back to full fitness we will be a force to be reckoned with, he needs to find a way to keep it tighter at the back though in the meantime as we're going to drop a lot of points in the next month or so if not.

6 from me dropped Brown and put Tymon on which was baffling even though Brown didn't have a great game on Saturday. But we were poor defensively again and only came alive when they had a player sent off, hoof ball and a high defensive line is a recipe for conceding - which we did. Gouranga.

5. He has got to do something with the players from the kick off, not when we are chasing the game. Whilst they shouldn’t need it, these are pampered professionals who seemingly aren’t arsed until their backs are against the wall. It’s happened on far too many occasions and MON must see it, but is so far incapable of sorting it.

5. For the last two games we have been overrun in midfield with only Mikel offering any protection. Needs to address this.

5, playing a high line gave the defence no chance.
He has a very difficult decission to make that won't be popular but its needed, going off his track record so far I'm hopefull he'll get it right.

Reacted too late to the same Norwich move time and again where they got past our defensive midfield too easily and through our CBs with a simple through ball.

At what point do the players take responsibility for that though? I don't doubt that the players have a responsibility, but the manager standing on the touchline has a better overall perspective of the game. That's why he's there. It was watching Norwich on a loop playing the same move and us doing nothing to stop them.

At what point do the players take responsibility for that though? We haven’t had a midfield for about a month and the defence have been playing too high a line since the start of the season. That’s not on the players imo.
