The current squad would come straight back down if we were to go up. Major changes would be need in order to compete I think.
Without going through every player individually, this is what we would be looking at.
GK - To be reviewed but as things stand need another keeper RB - Need new one CB - on basis of two at the back, we would need two more. Collins and Souttar to stay. LB - Need new one CM - Got a few players which could compete in Clucas, Powell, Allen and Mikel could do a job what Salif did but most of the rest would struggle. RWF and LWF - Got few decent options here but would need to bring additions in. CF - Can't see any of Fletcher,Vokes or Gregory providing enough goals but Fletcher would be useful to have around in same way Billy Sharp has been.

Watching our match yesterday then the Tottenham v Man City match straight after only served to highlight that we'd get pumped in pretty much every game with no fans. With fans we may stand a chance. When it's just based on the quality of teams and players, promoted teams aren't standing much of a chance at the moment. Even the mighty Leeds are struggling. When we were last in the Prem, I always felt that at home we'd give anyone a game. As the as stand at the moment, we'd need major improvements all round.

Fair comment about the crowd. There's no way we would have stayed up last time round if it wasn't for the home atmosphere.

Ferguson gold Pulis we needed as many as 30 points at home and that would apply again this time but you can’t narrow the pitch , but it’s a high quality problem to have .

If we do go up there's very little doubt that N'diaye, Etebo, Bruno, Wimmer, and Bauer will be more than willing to turn out for us. Hell even Imbula, currently out of a job, might offer his services. We could continue to pay for other clubs to play them or we could save a few bob by playing them instead of buying players who will cause us similar problems a little further down the line.
Or we could buy ourselves clones of SJW, Sidibe, and Fuller, What age are their children now?

I think these posts are always unfair, we have no idea who will be able to make the step.
Who would’ve thought that: Wilko, Whelan, Delap, Lawrence, Diao, Sidibe would have been able to make such a massive step up?
It was only really Cresswell who really struggled. Even Simo and Court were good when called upon

GK - Davies - Gunn - Bursik RB - Smith - Bauer/Edwards (piss take) new signing LB - Fox - new signing CB - Collins - Batth - Souttar - Ryan new x2 CM - Allen - Clucas - Mikel - Thompson - TOB new x2 AM - Powell - new F/ST - Campbell - Fletcher - new x2 Everyone wrote us off last time we were promoted but we showed what can be done with a good crowd behind the team and a will and desire not to be trampled on. Gouranga.

Hell even Imbula, currently out of a job, might offer his services. Correction: Imbula is not jobless. His old club, Guingamp, has taken him on. Good luck to them.

Worry about the squad 1 If we do get promoted 2 When we'd have 100 million in bank and FFP won't matter in prem for first few years minimum

Do we have the most British players in our squad in this division? We don't have many from overseas do we, can't count the bombsquad. Unusual these days.

Even Simo and Court were good when called upon I agree with the spirit of this post but some of the selections are pretty harsh. Delap had over 200 Prem appearances to his name when he joined Stoke. Diao had 50 and had played in a World Cup quarter final and the Champions League. Lawrence had plenty of Prem experience too.
