Spain looked ridiculously good, it could've been 9 or 10.

Looks like the weakest German squad in a long, long time.
Though whenever we say that they inevitably bounce back. Even after we beat them 5-1 they were the ones in a World Cup final nine months later.

According to some folk on here they’re just meaningless friendlies which aren’t worth playing anyway so take it with a pinch of salt. They’ll be back!

It seems over the past few years there have been a bunch of freakish results like this.
I reckon it’s down to the fine margin of modern football tactics - particularly the high pressing game, which leaves you extremely vulnerable if you have a day when it doesn’t click. Back in the day of more rigid formations, the structure of the team gave some protection even on bad days. That doesn’t appear to be the case these days with some teams - particularly the way a number of top sides play.

Looks like Lowe made a mistake binning Boateng, Hummels and Muller, Muller in particular.
Oh well.

It seems to be a national mentality thing. Every time Germany (at football) or Australia (at cricket or rugby) get a damn good humiliating tonking, they seem to go behind closed doors, do some soul searching, analyse what went wrong and then come back stronger. England teams who get a humiliating tonking are on their arse for the next decade.

For me what it showed is it doesn't matter how good you are if your front free can't be arsed to track back properly you'll be risking a spanking. Spain's full backs must have thought they were dreaming just flying up and down the wings unopposed.

Maybe not Australia at rugby- they've been useless for years (it doesn't help when their best manager is coaching England). In fact England had a humilating exit at the 2015 RWC, changed things around and reached the final four years later.
