On the Millwall podcast with Owen West, former Chief Superintendant of West Yorks police responsible for football policing, who has now left the police. I know he was one of the more enlightened match commanders but I was taken aback by the strength of his criticism of the UK Football Policing Unit and its its head ACC Mark Roberts. It's 50 minutes long, but a very interesting listen on how football policing should be improved tinyurl.com/y5w7bfa8

Fascinating, and frightening, listening To think that forces get extra funding based on issuing banning orders is a real worry. Equally the number of officers being deployed, and the cost, is alarming. The level of national control of match day policing seems a key stumbling block to any local forces being more reasonable. Seems a shame that Owen West isn't still in the 'job' "Fans need a stark reminder of the danger of covid" is apparently a quote from the incumbent head of the UK football policing unit (and the reason they pushed for neutral venues)..wtf!?

I'll have a listen later but I believe a lot of the time the police are the antagonists.

They're going to be a nightmare when crowds do return aren't they? as are fans to be honest, lets face it we have all been cooped up at home with no days where we can go out to play with our mates up and down the country, will be some very pissed up people who have not let off steam for 12 months when we get back in, it will be a sight to behold!

They're going to be a nightmare when crowds do return aren't they? We can pretend we're protesting and they'll be down on their knees. Get ya placards ready.

Did anything ever come of that after match Luton debacle? Never does, it will have been covered up. the police on the ground are mainly thugs. A young lad was beaten by an 'officer' at the barnsley sheff wed match last season, the police thug who did it got suspended on full pay for a couple of weeks then back on full duty. They are beyond the law.

Did anything ever come of that after match Luton debacle? I know that our (FSA) caseworker was involved but I don't think I ever heard what ( if anything) happened. I'll ask her

Did anything ever come of that after match Luton debacle? This is the response from Amanda, our caseworker After the event I spoke to a Chief Supt at Beds Police who was happy to speak with any complainants directly. About 5 or 6 Stoke fans contacted me with their experiences, I asked them all if they were happy for me to pass their details on to the Chief Supt so he could contact them directly and most of them were. I didn't hear anything subsequently so assume that the conversations the fans had were a satisfactory conclusion for them.
