....well not the fjords but never thought I'd be aching so acutely for a "normal" match-day Saturday, few pints and lunchtime match in the club, taxi to ground, catch up with the regulars, moan and curse my way through a match then back to the pub for a couple either in celebration or commiseration, take-away and home for a doze......
Just fuck off COVID ......

You can forget watching any footy at the Brit or any other ground this season I'm afraid.

You can forget watching any footy at the Brit or any other ground this season I'm afraid. I know - its almost beyond belief .....and even next season will probably be under crazy distancing rules with no concourse gathering and masks all round - which will kill it dead ....

You can forget watching any footy at the Brit or any other ground this season I'm afraid. You can still watch non-league. Enjoyed a game at Kidsgrove a couple of weeks ago

I’d rather try to be healthy at home and stop Covid spreading than by mixing with others even in a controlled manner.

You can forget watching any footy at the Brit or any other ground this season I'm afraid. How did the NI game get their fans in when lockdown in place ? Think we will have a similar low start in new year - 1000's have had it with no symptoms and no issues. The challenge is keeping the ones who it does impact more, and tragically, from catching it from the rest so full on shielding or take your chances. This bollox can't continue on the basis of a hopeful vaccine that still may not protect 10%, when less than 10% who do test positive for it die from it anyway. Had enough of staying locked up for a year.

It seems particularly cruel having a football free weekend with no Soke game to even follow from afar during the lockdown but I suppose they didn't know this when they planned the fixtures.

Lots of “ifs” between now and then but assuming no resurgence of the virus, the vaccine taking effect etc, I think there will be pressure (from a variety of sources) to get fans back into the grounds before the season end.

I’d rather try to be healthy at home and stop Covid spreading than by mixing with others even in a controlled manner. I like the whole package, meet up with the lads a few beers go the game and so on, just going the match in a sparse stadium not sitting with mates I'd let some one else go. The flip side is until we have a vaccine this could be around for quite a while so what do we do hibernate for years until we have one? Best thing we can do is protect the vulnerable and be sensible and get on with it.

Would have to social distance if you were even allowed to go into a pub. Not for me. Happy for anyone who just goes straight to the game and straight home after to have my place.

I see on the news the Regent pantomime is going to be on December. Reduced audience of 700 in a 1600 seat venue Can’t see how this can be justified when you can’t let anybody in an outdoor 30000 seat stadium

I might be being optimistic, but I think we'll have a reduced crowd before the end of the season now the vaccine is here.

Reduced audience of 700 in a 1600 seat venue Can’t see how this can be justified when you can’t let anybody in an outdoor 30000 seat stadium I work in a secondary school with 1,200 11-16 yr olds. Reports say that secondary aged kids are bringing the virus back home into family units. Its bizarre that my secondary aged sons can sit in classrooms all day with 30 other kids, who do not have to wear a mask, but their Saturday football, outside with 10 other lads and 11 opponents is banned. The kids that want to play football will obey all COVID regs because they want to be there. The contradictions are madness, unless you accept that education is really "childcare" to enable the middle class to work from home unencumbered.

I’d rather try to be healthy at home and stop Covid spreading than by mixing with others even in a controlled manner. There is nothing remotely healthy about locking yourself at home for months on end mate.

I'm afraid that without the crowds football is deceased, demised, bereft of all life. In short it is an ex-spectacle

Due to begin rolling out pre-Xmas though, with more vaccines to come. Add to that the positive effects of lockdown and increasing pressure to open stadiums, I don't think it's a pipe dream. Won't be holding my breath though.

I forgot i did see that footage at the turnstiles so all this time just a quick spray tan and back to normal for a 1000. Most 18-45 /healthy people will be lucky to get to the front of the queue for a vaccine by mid 21, so still the same basic dilemna to vaccine/shield all those of age/risk and let the rest of us incl schoolkids etc go get it and move on. Can't avoid it ( may have even had it in April) just dragging it out and causing untold damage.
