Their nature is second to none, if ever they escaped the garden they would lick everyone to death! But it would be like a scene from Godzilla, everyone frantically trying to get inside😀 Mine could nail a pint of Guiness in 3 seconds, put a pint on the table and they would just get the tongue in and smash it! No wonder they don’t live long! They are lovely animals. Real gentle giants, but I'm sure I read they don't live very long, about 7-9 years on average? Bang on. One was 9 and one was 7 both had heart attacks. Standard for a Great Dane

Please don't get one. They are ridiculously over-bred and, as a result, have loads of health problems. Mainly, breathing, knee and hip issues, obesity, the list is rather long. If you think about it, the further away from an ancestral dog shape (ie wolf) you get, the more likely, generally, your dog is likely to suffer health issues. Pugs should definitely be avoided. Sounds like me😀 Not quite that bad mate

They can be absolute nut jobs as well. Jumped the garden gate into the wood, and I found her swimming in the fishing pool looking very pleased with herself. Wouldnt change her for anything though. Same here, with the spaniel we had from the dogs home My old one was forever going missing on walks at night One night took him to roam around on a circuit around the stadium (when you could) and he went missing around 10pm - I waited around for about 2 hours and nothing About 230am I got a from the police asking if we had lost the dog as he was so wet they thought he had been down by the canal and wondered had someone fell in! I drove up to the Audi garage by the stadium and collected him and quickly made my excuses and left. Two other examples were both from Fenton park on Victoria Road, again both at night, he disappeared One time, got a call at 6 in the morning and he was down by Shapes / Fenton Manor When I arrived he was sitting with the workmen whilst they were having a cup of tea and "asking" them for a biscuit The other time, he was gone all night and at lunchtime he was sitting outside the Malt n Hops (where I sometimes go), when I came out, after spending hours looking it was so strange as in the daytime when i took him out and I went on a push bike I could cycle along Campbell road and he wouldn't be more than 5 feet from my side He could easily do 15 miles and be up for another walk an hour later, but his recall wasn't the best, that was for certain He was forever finding mud and going for a swim like yours above He had such a wonderful temperament, and it was such a loss when he got a tumour in his leg and one day struggled to walk and had to let him go after 12 years 5 months later we got a younger spaniel from Spaniel Aid His recall is lots better, but he only manages about 8 miles when out on the bike on the canal as everything is a race to him He is 8 years old and had him 19 months now He shows flashes of temperament, showing his teeth, but he is the laziest dog I have ever come across He is always happy to be asleep / laze on a bean bag, until a walk is required, and then will be more than happy with just a 15 minute walk and scampers around the park where we have gone to and almost always finds mud and / or wants a swim Enjoy the fun that they bring

Cavalier king charles spaniel. The most laid back dog, with the best temperament. Friends with everyone and soft as a brush. They will be your best friend for life.
They have a few health issues, mainly heart issues due to mitral valve failure which will eventually get worse over time.
Miss my old dog. 😪

We got our current pooch, a boxer, from the city dogs home. Absolutely wonderful dogs, lovely funny personality. Inseparable from the boy, they're great with kids, like best friends.
