Joe Gomez has suffered a potentially "serious injury" in training according to Sky Sports. Liverpool won't have any defenders left at this rate. As for England, it's not a position we're blessed with talent.

We used to consistently churn out top rate defenders. Look at some of the talent we've had playing at CB over the years.
But as you say, not so much these days.

Not a fan of internationals at the best of times but why anyone is arsed about them right now, fuck only knows. What is there to gain from it? Should just concentrate on getting an already crammed few months of domestic football sorted.

Play Mings alongside Maguire and stop playing Trippier at left wing back!

lots of decent fullbacks to choose from but central defence (& Pickford) is a huge problem

Why on earth are internationals going ahead??
There’s a global pandemic.
40-50 people per country travel to different countries, through airports, on buses, in hotels, and play a game against lads from a different country. Then into the changing rooms and back to the airport. Even if 1 person catches Covid, it comes back to England.
Surely internationals should be canned for the next few months at least?
Most importantly - nobody gives a shit.

What i don't understand is the Denmark ban yet the england players will play the game, then come home back to training and into games the following week with no isolation haha

The only thing I can think is that someone must be making money out of it somewhere because otherwise it makes no sense at all when there are too many games anyway.

But during the current climate, these international fixtures are completely absurd.

I am not a huge fan of international football and cannot get very interested in tournament qualifiers against nobody teams we should thrash, and certainly not friendlies.
I only really start to get interested when it is a tournament against decent sides.
But I would not deny someone else their enjoyment if that is what interests them.
As for this time and the pandemic. That cuts both ways. I think there is a risk of spreading the disease but it must but very minimal in this case with all the precautions they will be taking to protect their "prize assets". Conversely there are millions of people doing their head in, "locked in", some in a couple of rooms, and until huge stress. Anything that gives them a relief and a change like a football match on the tele, goes a little way to protect their sanity.

Plus they are generally really dull unless in the final throws of World Cup qualification. What is the point currently? More injuries and delay to the domestic game

More injuries and delay to the domestic game It just mean that club games have to be squeezed into a shorter window. After this International Break the schedules are ridiculous until Xmas. There are going to be loads of injuries. It's a good job we have a big squad, we are going to need it.

But doesn’t a full premier league / league programme do the same without everyone going abroad to play?

But doesn’t a full premier league / league programme do the same without everyone going abroad to play? Fair point. The only answer I can come up with having lived in a number of places in the UK, that there are large areas of the country like Wales, North Yorkshire, Northumberland, the Borders, that do not have a local league team they have any allegiance to but do like to see their National team play. Going abroad seems like a long trip to many people but I used to go regularly to a day's meeting in The Netherlands, flying over early morning , having a 6 hour meeting, and flying home in the evening.

Wouldn’t mind if it was a competitive game but it’s just a friendly that doesn’t matter.

Fair point about the local teams. I’m the same. I live in London and do Paris trips in a day twice a month for work and Amsterdam / Zurich every quarter. I sometimes stay overnight but not always. It’s as easy as going to Manchester or Glasgow. But at the moment the world is different so that sort of thing has changed (I went to Spain in September) and it’s not as easy as it was. It just strikes me as an unnecessary exercise given the circumstances and that fans can’t travel either.
