Unlucky to lose to an absurd refereeing decision, or lucky to stay with a better team for so long? On tonight's evidence Watford are the best side I've seen in this league this season, lovely mix of flair and steel. They looked top two, we looked upper mid-table - about right then. We didn't play that well but for me that was more about them stopping us than our own shortcomings. Considering how successfully they choked us back, I was seeing character on the pitch and good strong management from Mick - it would have been a lucky point maybe but was an unluckier loss given the handball.
Wonder if I'll be top mark? From some of tonight's posts, could be. But I think a few people should get real:

6, the ref screwed us over but he made some poor subs, Brown isn't a wing back and Cousins took away any foothold in the game we had attacking wise, fair play for sticking with the set up and the players though.

6. Don't think you can ever get more than that for a defeat but ultimately we nearly got a point against a good team and could have even won it if Powell had shown more composure. And we got absolutely shafted by the ref.

Promising start was snuffed out by a dire set of officials.
Once they scored we were on the back foot.
Second half we did well to get a second goal but got undone by some poor defending and more poor officiating.
Glad he played the same side though, as i believe a settled side is the way to go.
Fancy us to beat reading though.

If he hadn't put Brown to wing back, and the game had remained 2-1 and we'd still lost what would you have complained about then?

He’s going to be under some noticeable pressure post the break to deliver improved performances right now we are miles off what’s expected and miles off what’s required for the top 6 .

I’m so glad we can’t go to games it’s a fuckin chore putting the stream on even though I didn’t tonight after the Rotherham shit. More money saved and hours out in the cold avoided for wank performances week in week out.

He's playing the system YOU want him to play. He's playing our best possible players we have available at this moment in time. He gets no credit for making a positive substitution before we levelled but gets lambasted for one (which 9 out of 10 managers would've made) after. Transparent

5. The best formation for our players but another wet performance. Limited subs and showed no bottle at the end. His interview was poor, and the lack of bottle will undoubtedly make Scholes et al very happy.

Aggrieved 😂 really the performance by the officials was disgraceful but he's polite and a nice chap so I forgive him. His passion is inspirational to me.

Correct formation and team (although I would go for Gregory rather than Volkse [n the bench).
Decent formation change to get back when 2-1 down too.
I find it very difficult to rate the managers poorly for 2 very poor decisions by the ref, and a mistake by Batth.

It’s a difficult one he did a great job in saving us but the concerns on appointment around no transfer experience and no promotion experience and no experience of this league just won’t go away see Warnock transforming boro

With a ridiculously bloated squad, we aren’t really in a position to do much. A few areas need serious work. A play off push wouldn’t be bad for this year. Our form isn’t that different from those that will be there or thereabouts.

7. The subs were a mistake, but the biggest factor in this result was a very poor ref,

Was surprised he stuck with the system as I thought he'd go and try and nick something, but we'd have struggled even more than we did against Sarr with a back three I think. We made a good, aggressive, fast start, which we often don't. We were second best for long spells and the subs didn't help, but they've got significantly more quality than we have. A measuring stick evening and they knew they'd been in a game with us.
