Some people don't appreciate what we have in Jimmy Mac.
He is (and always has been) an absolutely critical player for us.
Cant for the life of me figure out why some don't rate him, or even think he's holding us back.
If he's fit, he starts every game for me.

He definitely helps out the left back a lot more than many of our other options do. Contrast his defensive attitude to Campbell's for example (not slating Campbell, love the guy). You can see some nice partnerships building with McClean and Fletcher/McClean and Powell. The same is true on the other side as well.

Agree that if he’s fit, he plays.
However his quality on the whole is pretty woeful. About one in six of his crosses will go anywhere near a Stoke player and you lose count of the amount of times he fails to control the ball.

Likely the best signing Rowett or Jones made, with only really Powell and Clucas (and hopefully Davies) for competition. I thought £6m and the contract length for McClean was long at his age, but if he continues in the same vein this season and next, he's been good value by today's standards.

Hes no Messi but he buckets of bottle and we are sadly lacking in bottle. His work rate is just incredible. The way he was chasing down Rotherham players at the very end of the game was really important I think alot of his effectiveness is to do with what a pain in the arse he must be to play against. He doesn't let players settle, he's aggressive in his play, and makes it a very physical experience for opponents. He gives us those surges in energy when we really need them.

I'd love to know how many crosses he put into the box today to no-one other than their keeper!
He's a terrible footballer who makes up for a lack of ability with personality, heart, workrate and will to win.
Lots to admire but he's really not very good.

Just a pity he can't cross and today some of his passes were awful. I even think he should have taken some of the blame for Tymon's back pass last week as his passes are often short leaving the recipients with very little time to do anything. I appreciate his aggression (when it's controlled) and his work rate but don't let's pretend he's a great winger.

He's a loveable shit footballer. He's what I call a binary player, he's either fully off (0) or fully on (1) with nothing inbetween.
He definitely adds something to our team, but let's not pretend he's something he isn't.

Opposition must hate coming up against him.
Would you rather be up against him, or Jordan Thompson?

Good finish but bar that he was poor (as was every other attacking player). Awful crosses and awful passing. But again that was everyone’s game.

He’s like Marmite to fans. Personally I like him as he always tries hard and contributes. Best player last year and starting to look good again

He wasn't great today by any stretch.
If we have to rely on a bog standard talent like him to get us through games then it really shows how far we've fallen.

It's a sad indication of where we are if Mcclean is a critical player for us. You mean the Championship? You would think that the sad indication would be the fact that it says ‘Stoke vs ...’ in the Championship fixtures on a weekly basis. McClean would get into most teams in this league.
