...the rumour/players linked piece that appears in the Sentinel everyday? Now I'm not expecting for one minute that either Radio Stoke or the Sentinel would ever divulge any info that is "off the record" but surely given the fact that they speak to people at the club all the time we might have a bit of a taster as to what (if anything) is happening. The crap that gets published in the tabloids isn't worth the ink it's printed with most of the time so that's where I would expect our local media to come to the fore rather than just do a re-hash job of the red tops' stories or in the case of Radio Stoke report nothing at all. Come on Radio Stoke and the Sentinel lets get some real news from the club and prove your worth to your listeners/readers. I'm quite calm about our lack of signings so far but I wouldn't mind a bit of "Stoke City are understood to be tracking a midfielder with top flight experience etc etc". We clearly are looking at players and you would assume our local media must have some idea surely, even if they are sworn to secrecy as to players identities??

Spot on.
And that McGarry 'major development' carrot was a bloody disgrace.
I don't expect them to pluck a load of names from the air if they aren't there but you would expect them to have some info and updates from the club...

There's something you don't see everyday, "McGarry" and "bloody disgrace" in the same sentence! It would help if he had any sort of grasp of the English language or was in any way professional as a radio broadcaster. Sadly he fails on both counts.

I don't know if there's the slightest bit of truth in this (it'd be nice if there was), but someone told me years ago that the following happened:
Studio presenter: "And now we're going over to Graham McGarry at Gresty Road, who we believe has a touch of cramp."
McGarry: "Aaaaarrrgh!"

Eh up LDE, that seems to ring a bell actually mate. He is absolutely cringe-worthy though and just tends to miss words out completely when reading sports bulletins and alters the tense of words at the drop of a hat.

He struggles with the most basic of foreign players' names. I don't mean Krzynowek or Hitzlsperger; I mean Fred, or Zico.

had the unfortunate experience of sitting next to him a few years back at preston. i was co - commentating on the game with our nige and he just kept shaking his head at stuff nige was saying. really underminded nige at the press conference after the match.
hes a tosser of the highest order.

i told a few lads to listen to radio stoke for some big news, they gave me a mouth full of abuse when i came back to work that night! I suppose we're all just shiting it incase we dont sign anybody thats any good. I'm sick of waking up at about 5pm and turning sky sports news on and seeing other teams have signed people and nothing about us!

It is ridiculous that people complain about the press not mentioning Stoke - then complain about them having a rumours column. Gossip is what oils the wheel of football supporters banter.
