I think after the horror start last season, most of us would have taken 9 points, especially given wins in the cup, and positive signs like Harry Souttar. Trouble is after a decent away win, you expect to beat Barnsley. Not losing with 10 men is a good result. Looking up!

Nope Not with 2 of the first 3 homes against the piss poor Birmingham and Barnsley.

Maybe if we were in the Premier League. We should be beating teams like Barnsley with 8 men.

Are home form is worrying but thats down to MON we need to be more positive & put teams under pressure from the start. MON is far to cautious in the way he sets the team up at home.

Maybe if we were in the Premier League. We should be beating teams like Barnsley with 8 men. Maybe 5 years ago. This is a team that’s finished 16th and 15th in the Championship over the last two seasons.

Probably. If we can hover around mid table all season and be in reach of the playoffs towards the end of it I'd be happy.

Barnsley are a decent side, when we get pressed high up the pitch we are clueless.. When we did the same last season we were very effective, seemed to have stopped doing it this season.

Considering where we were after 6 last season, absolutely.
Barnsley came in on the back of a good draw against Bristol, so a point with 10 men for 30 mins is okay.

Probably. If we can hover around mid table all season and be in reach of the playoffs towards the end of it I'd be happy. I think that is realistically the best we can hope for. MON says were are developing and I think we need to be realistic. There’s going to be ups and downs. I’d take being 3 or 4 points off 6th with 4 games to go.

9 points from the first 6 is a decent start for club that has been notoriously slow out of the blocks in recent seasons. I think we all would have liked more, but it’s not a bad haul given the fact that we’re not playing that well and there is plenty more to come. We need to lose the “we should be smashing teams like Barnsley” attitude quickly - this division is ultra-competitive and there are no easy games. That kind of attitude from some of our fans is becoming tedious. We’ve got the makings of a decent side who are capable of mounting a challenge, but we’re no world beaters and this sense of entitlement is embarrassing.
We’ve become hard to beat, we’re on a decent unbeaten run and we’re also on a decent cup run. Compared to what we’ve witnessed over the last four years or so, it’s an encouraging start to the season.

Probably just about meeting minimum expectations at the moment? It's a steady start, somat to build on and better than the last 2 seasons.

Think about where we were when MON took over. We are work in progress. We should be happy with a tenth place finish really. Well more than happy tbf. This league is so shit though I think we could easily stumble into 6th place. It really is small margins. If we’d taken our clear cut chances tonight we would be sitting real pretty in top six and we’d all be happy.

As we saw last year we will lose games we are expected to win and vice versa. It’s going to be a roller coaster season and hopefully come April/ May we are in the top 8 and in with a chance of the playoffs or promotion. We are still building a team from the ground up so I think 21/22 will be our year.

To add to that, there is already a lot of games in the championship, but to have that condensed further is going to be quite an effort from the squad.

9 points from 6 games is much improvement on the diabolical displays of last season. It took us till our 16th game last season to go past 9 points (the 4-2 win over Barnsley actually). 6 games in last season we had a single point. This season Last season Conceded 5 14 Scored 6 6 Clean sheets 3 0 League pos 10 24
I this what's clear is although we have become harder to beat - the system of 5-3-2 is restricting the goal-scoring but we have conceded fewer goals. Our league position is improved also. We are unbeaten away from home which is something we needed to improve last season though that seems to have come at a cost to our impressive home form from last season. We do have a positive goal difference which is something we've not had in a long time! Last season we were expected to beat the likes of Charlton, Birmingham and QPR, we lost them all. This season we have beaten Preston and drawn at Millwall - both top half sides.
I'd say so far so good based of our improvement from last season and 9 points is a pretty good return - it sits us in 10th place so in and around average for the league, for a side that's been in the lower half for 2 seasons it's a fair improvement.

I think the fact we have only lost once in the league says something. Not to unhappy, hopefully we can push on. A win on Saturday would be really nice, but it would have to be a big improvement on tonight's performance.

Yes.
We're not good enough to survive the Prem. Stay in touch of the play offs this season ... then build on it for the season after.

Just think back 12 months to pre M'ON. We don't want to get too over confident just yet! Still much to do but we're making progress. I would defo have taken 10th and just 2 pts out of the top 6 by this stage. Early days!

Happy with the points return but the way we are getting them is a bit weird
Would have expected to beat Brum and Barnsley but would have taken a point at Preston and Luton
If we could just sort that home form out...........

A win and good performance on saturday puts us in a very good position and really gets the season going. That won’t be easy though. Brentford won away tonight, and their new strikerToney has scored 7 in his last 4 games.
