It doesn't make any sense to play him when we can play Tymon on the left, Brown on the right and Fletcher and Campbell up front in either a two or with Fletcher just behind Campbell.
I don't dislike him for any reason, his work rate is very good but surely it is best to have Campbell playing with Fletcher so that Fletcher can guide him. Fletcher is by far our best striker and using his experience to guide Campbell is the best option surely. Campbell will get 20 goals plus this season if he has Fletcher with him.

Had he scored his sitter it would have been his 4th goal in 4 league games.
I get that he is pretty rubbish but at a time when our better players aren't really fit or firing yet, he's earned his place in the team with a few goals to be fair.
I wouldn't play him either, certainly not at home, but it's hard to argue he wasn't in the team on merit at present.

Whilst I think his finishing is poor (and we were warned), I think he adds quite a lot.
No point having to 2 up front with no link up, that's what he's there for, and to score a few obviously, which he has.
He earned his spot, let others remove him by taking their chance when it comes along.

Fletcher is a target man and should be the link up man.
Gregory should have been fucked off at the earliest chance.

Sell Gregory. His SJW impersonation is always going to give ham some support, not least with his managers, but the odd goal over 1 1/4 years cannot obliterate the dozens that he hasn't scored, including several absolute sitters. He cost us nothing, set him free for nothing. Let him join some Turkish club. Pay his wages if necessary, but get rid.

Soccerbase need to go and check their stats. If he was a consistent 20 goal a season striker ( which is what those stats say over a 46 game season) he wouldn’t have been spending his time at either Millwall or Stoke. In league football, it's 71 in 246 appearances at League One and Championship level for us and Millwall. He scored a ridiculous 82 in 129 for Halifax in non-league, which skews his stats somewhat. That seems more in keeping with the Lee Gregory we see (although he’s not a 1 goal every 3 and a bit games for us) - if he could manage 14 league goals in a season, I’d be okay with him being in the team.

Yeah, his stats have dropped off a cliff for us. 64 in 204 for Millwall. 7 in 42 for us. Standard!

It's a tossup between Gregory & K Scott, for the most useless Stoke Striker.

At the very least he's a lot better than his racehorse namesake.
"Gregory the great" was running in the 2.30 at pontefract today so I checked him out.
in his two previous runs he was last of eleven, both times
this time around he again finished 11th, but for the first time did beat a horse home into 12th.
The glue factory beckons...

Championship only.
For Millwall (a team that scored below average goals per game) Gregory got on the end of chances worth non penalty 0.30 xG per 90
For Stoke (a team who scored at an average goals per game) he got on the end of chances worth 0.34 non penalty xG per 90
So at Stoke he's upped the rate at which he gets on the end of chances, but we're a more expansive team than Millwall were. So that balances it out.
He created 0.12 xG per 90 for team mates at Millwall.
He created 0.15 xG per 90 for Stoke team mates.
If goals & "clinical" or "non clinical" fimishing is your thing, he has under performed his non penalty xG at both teams in terms of actual goals scored, but the rates are pretty close. 0.23 non penalty goals scored per 90 at Millwall, 0.2 at Stoke.
He's not experienced a precipitous drop off at Stoke.

So what are you saying Del?🤔 he's the same player he was at Millwall. He gets on the end of the same quality & quantity of chances and he converts them at broadly the same rate. We got what we expected, a decent Championship striker, who also creates stuff for others. Look at minutes played, not appearances.
