We officially have a cup run - also a strong, fluent, assured football team. Not just a team but, given the changes for tonight, a system, an identity as SCFC I feel like I haven't seen since Tone. Long way to go yet but feeling great about being a Stokie again.
9 from me

10 even though I'm still not convinced that 5 at the back is what we should be playing. A win away to a premiership team (although a very weakened one) is as much as we can have asked for. Gouranga.

I said I would save a 10 for winning a trophy but to beat 2 Prem sides away from home in successive rounds without conceding a goal with no less than 6 youngsters plus 1 on as sub tonight, really is outstanding.
So a 10 from me. Well played MON.

Stuck to his principles in keeping the same formation. Few tweeks here and there needed but we look finally like a team.

9.
Put pace in the wing back positions, tried a different formation without drifting too far away from what he wants to do and got a fantastic result.
Is getting loads out of the kids.

A strong 9 from me. Starting XI, subs and tactics were spot on. A clean sheet as well (again). I save my 10 until we win against a top plastic gloryhunting team.

Looking solid at the back and a hard team to beat. Youngsters are looking the part.
We seem better playing away at the moment with this formation, but still not sure it works playing at home when we should be more attacking.
Maybe with Collins at CB it can work as he is good on the ball and can start our attacks. Otherwise we will have too many defenders on the field

He's done the right thing bringing Collins in gradually rather than just throw him in last season. He's gradually growing into the player he was tipped to be.

9, thought although Brownie tried hard he looked a fish out of water in that role. Loved the team selection though, young and experienced it looked the part.

10 and an extra point for ditching the tracksuit. No coincidence now that vile trackie is gone. Hopefully he'll be one of those ultra superstitious people who has to wear the same clothes for the same type of games.

15 from me.
For the first time tonight in many many years, I listened to the second half with real belief.. almost expectation, that we would make it.
And we did.

The track suit would be the height of fashion in that part of Birmingham. looking for trouble walking around wearing that and wearing a Timex watch, Might as well ask to be mugged

i'm going with 9 - i haven't given out a 10 for anything since bo derek a masterclass from the manager, the players now look assured in their roles and know whats expected of them for this type of game.

10.....but I reserve the right to reassess at 2pm on Sunday and then again at 5! IMHO. Your comments are absolutely nailed on. I’m 100% respectful of MON and I’m patiently waiting for him to deliver us back to the top table of which I have no doubts he will. The foreseeable problems are unrealistic expectations and the potential lack of “uninterrupted” support from the club. Apologies. I’m still dismayed how we lost a “sense of direction” that led to our downfall from a position of strength with excellent financial backing. At almost 68 years of age and about 60 years of support for SCFC ( which has seen so many personal sacrifices) I’m desperate to see us in the EPL again having world wide recognition (yes we did have)

9.
Professional smash and grab v Wolves, but he was ballsy enough to let us go and attack for a half today and that was just t'riffic.
Think we could have tried to control things with more possession football in parts of the second half, would have further tired and sapped Villa.
We gave away enough sitters that it could have been an enraging 2-1 loss but for me he did the right thing.

9, thought although Brownie tried hard he looked a fish out of water in that role. Loved the team selection though, young and experienced it looked the part. I thought Brown did ok and I'm pretty sure the advantage we had in the first half was that Villa hadn't a clue how we were going to line up so probably got their tactics totally wrong. Second half they targeted him and he was obviously tiring ( I think that wing back role is the most energy sapping position to play). MON then did the right thing and moved him. Great management.

9 from me. Great team selection and the right subs. I drop him a point for not getting Smith on earlier. Villa were clearly targeting Brown and El Ghazi was rinsing him regularly. MON did though change it before any damage.
