I have every confidence that MON would do a good job at organising them. He specialises in under dogs and impossible situations. I don't think we'll go up but if he manages to get there I think he'll do a Pulis and confound everyone.

Under MON's guidance our young players are going to get better and better.
With our large squad rotating players, they will keep fresh to the end of the season.
January will bring some shrewd signings by MON, and the new recruitment manager, who will be busting a gut to prove themselves and desperate to play for Stoke.
By the time of the play-offs MON will have the team playing the best quality football in the Championship and we will breeze through the play-offs.
The owners will then support MON in making real quality signings in key positions as we climb back to our rightful place in the Prem.
Positive thinking brings positive results.

Plenty I don't like about the prem but you've got to aim for the top and see where the journey takes you when you get there. Just look at Leicester
It's not as if the last 2 years have been enjoyable

No chance were going up.. mid table.. we got let off the hook with the sending off on sat.. Preston we’re all over us until then an we ain’t going too get favours like that every week. Will be interesting too see what the Coates family would be happy with at the end of the season.. would they be happy with mid table an by the end of this season o’neil would of been in charge of us a year an 6/7 months.. that’s a fair amount of time too put ya own stamp on things.. would the Coates sack him or give him another season.. personally if we don’t make the play off it’s a failure for me.. weld the axe an get Hougton in.. proven too get teams promoted an proven too keep teams in the prem The season is as good as over and we can draw conclusions this late into the season with 4 1/2 hours of football played.

Best way to do it is how Norwich did last season or Fulham are this season... Have a crack at it more or less with what you have, but don't take big risks and pocket a lot of the money to invest into the squad the following season. Should then get promoted with a very strong squad and have a great chance of staying up.
If we get promoted this season we would have to build a largely new team... Clucas I think could make the jump if he shows last seasons form but beyond him you're struggling... Perhaps Powell, on form he is technically quite wonderful.

If Denise liked football we'd may well have looked at the Asian market and been closer to Wolves and Leicester (she has the money and wherewithal).
Unfortunately, we have 'Harold & Lloyd' in charge so we're closer to Boro...

I think he's a good enough footballer ultimately, that said I have been brown nosing him since he was at Chez so really I am about as biased as they come. I'm not talking about anything great mind, but he wouldn't look out of place in the first XI of a bottom half team for me.

Just a plaything for Jorge Mendes, most their squad is Portuguese at this point and without trying to sound like someone on the 'everything else' board I'm not a huge fan. Perhaps last season when they had a Portuguese contingent, but now they have like 10 or more players, they may as well be a Portuguese side.

Looking at this game now, Villa look like they have been in the Prem for ages. Last year they stayed up by the skin of their teeth, now they will be on 6 points after 2 games. Confidence.

Would there be any point in going up given the increased gap between the to clubs in the Premier League and the also rans?

we've never been a yo yo club if we go up we will stay up for a while (years) don't think we will go up this season myself , probably be 7th to 10th We will be lucky to get in to the top half and this is a poor league, our recent transfer dealings have fcuked the club up for possibly ten years, we have more players out on loan than Chelsea. Erm...no we don't, they have more players out on loan than we have players! If we don't make top half I would say that's outright failure and is contrary to the experience, the results, under O'Neill Really don't understand how anyone is still expecting such failure under this manager.

I will be reasonably happy with a season of not having to think about relegation. The rest is a bonus.
I still think we look vulnerable. We seem to have a better keeper though.

The sooner the better the longer we're in this league the more difficult it will get, the only saving grace is at the moment we are owned by wealthy people who could if they wish splash the cash.

Ah well thats another argument FFP take it this way they could spend a lot more being promoted than they are allowed now.

Question is will the owners back us financially in view of how much money was wasted in those ten years and still counting. Do they still believe in sustainability. Why wouldn't they? Great exposure for them and the rewards are too great. It's a huge risk but they threw money at Rowett to get back suggesting is where they want to be and FFP the restriction we have now which they have publically spoken out against. They did but may decide to learn from their mistakes.

Upper bottom half (i.e. midtable) won't necessarily be a bad thing, well not a very bad thing. We need stability, something we haven't had for several years. Just as long as we don't get into a prolonged relegation battle, midtable will represent that. Then we can start planning for better things, but we don't have the players at the moment to start climbling to where we'd all like us to be.

Has the gap in the Premier league grown wider than when we last went up? Would there be any point in hoping we go up? Would we just come straight back down? *The questions could be posed to any other championship club, is there any point in it anymore? Yes. PS Teenage Fanclub are class. God I miss live music.

Imagine getting promoted & CV19 still lurking on & us going a whole season back in the promised land with no fans present! It would be like it hadn't actually happened, especially if we got relegated straight back to the Champo again... Just as I think Fulham & possibly WBA fans will be experiencing come next May!
