He plays two world cup qualifiers later this month. Yesterday was the last warm up game.
EDIT - he has to play in BOTH world cup games to get his required percentage to qulaifying level

And, even then, he'll still automatically fail on the world ranking criterion, won't he?
So we'll have to hope that we've been tipped the wink that the panel will view his case favourably, and he'll 100% get the green light on appeal, as his agent and O'Connor have apparently been saying.
If they were so inclined, there's nothing to stop the panel saying 'no' again, is there?

Yes, FM, I reckon he should fail on the world ranking. Like you I'd have to hope that we have been "tipped the wink". Can't see any other reason for being hopeful.

I thought that the rule was as follows:
If you are from a country ranked in the top 70 in the world, you automatically are given a work permit, regardless of percentage of international matches played in. I assume this is to allow players from good countries who are not quite good enough to be an international regular to play in our league - there are plenty of excellent South American players who this applies to. They're not quite Ronaldinho, but they'd still make a great addition to a squad like ours.
The, if you are from a country outside the top 70, like Rudi is, you need to have played a certain percentage of competitive international matches over the past two years. (75% I think) Rudi will have made this quota if he features in both the Bahams games, meaning he will be given a work permit and we be free to sign.

That can't be right - if it was then Rudi would have got his permit last year when Jamiaca's ranking was higher.

It depends on when last Summer we were trying to sign him. In June Jamaica were ranked 68th, just high enough to be given one. However by July they were ranked 93rd and fell to 95th by August. If I recall rightly, it was only towards the very end of the Summer we tried to sign him, so be might have just missed the boat.

I think you've got to meet both the a.) top 70 world ranking and b.) 75% of competitive games in previous 24 months criteria to automatically get a permit.
If you fail on either either, it goes to appeal.
Jamaica's weighted 2-yr world ranking has apparently plummeted in the last year, since Demar Phillips got his without any need for appeal.

When we last tried to sign him, Jamaica were definately high enough up the world rankings it was Rudi's games played that was the problem.
I'm certain your interpretation is wrong ipl. For a work permit to be issued automatically, the player has to have played a required percentage of international games AND the country's world ranking has to be high enough.
EDIT - FM beat me to it but we did at least agree!

Maybe that's it, sounds about right. Jamaica's world ranking has plummeted of late, as can be seen here. www.fifa.com/associations/association=jam/ranking/gender=m/index.html

the rule is this: if you know enough people in the right places & everyone can @ least pretend that other 'rules' & procedures have been followed then he will get a work permit.

Why doesn't he just get in the back of a lorry headed for the UK- when he gets here he'll not only be given a work permit but a phone, house and anything else he needs.
Seems to work a few hundred thousand others

Gloucester- strange way to be waiting for a first signing- I mean what good will wandering do? You might get lost and miss any potential news of a new player

Jamaica play The Bahamas on June 15th and June 18th in World Cup qualifiers. Both games are in Jamaica. After this, Austin should qualify for his permit if we still wish to sign him.
