I normally have at least two nights not drinking a week, but after drinking every night last week I decided to make a change, starting Sunday.
I used an app and entered my normal weekly alcohol consumption (based on two sober nights), it came in at 63 units a week, which was a bit of an eye opener to say the least.
I’m currently on day 5 and determined to take a month off the booze. Having some mental dreams in the process.
I thought I was a light drinker but the app says no 😂
Anyone experienced a similar eye opener / wake up call?

Done the same a few times, a whole month off, the first few days, and oddly the last few are the hardest. And you do generally feel better mentally and physically.

Yeh every Sunday😏 Joking aside I normally have spells where I allow myself a few beers at the weekend then have Monday to Friday off but even find that difficult especially when the Suns shining! Good luck you’ll certainly feel better for it if that’s any incentive👍🏻

Many moons ago when I moved to Norfolk and, obviously changed hospitals I went to see my new lung specialist for the first time and he asked me the usual questions Do you smoke and I replied never even tried one Do you drink so I replied moderately So how many units do you discribe as moderate so I said around 110 units a week I still remember his face to this day when he regained his composure he said well you must be telling the truth as I usually double what people tell me When I worked it out I was surprised that six to seven pints of mild a night plus a couple extra on football match and cricket match days added up so high

Tried to go tee total for a month in August and lasted two weeks! Felt much better for it but going teetotal just doesn’t work for me. Aiming to be more sensible when I do have a drink and not get obliterated. Only drinking at the weekend and stopping when I want to stop instead of carrying on.

I’ve been wondering if I should switch to Gin or something I find a bit less palatable in an effort to reduce my drinking urges but then where’s the pleasure in that. There’s always cocaine I suppose but it’s a bit pricey😏

I stopped drinking alcohol 20 years ago having been a bit of a binge drinker (spirits). Have to say I don’t miss it and feel better for it.

What’s it like? A full detailed description of flavour and feeling will suffice😉 😂 It’s nice to be honest. You get a bit of a burn, ala whiskey. It contains lemon balm which is supposed to help you sleep / relax. Still a bit pricey and you’re not going to buy it all the time.

Got meself in a bit of trouble with police 3 month ago and haven't drank since. Been a drinker for over 20 years but done 3 months and never felt better. Always gone gym and never achieved the body I want but since quitting the drink it's defo starting to show. Also sleep loads better and been told I look better also. Smoked weed over 20 years also and on week 3 of quitting that too and was a lot harder than the beer specially with the withdrawals but really starting feel good about myself

I did the binge drinking thing as well but after the cardiac arrest episode Easter 2019 I kicked it into touch completely. Being dead is no fun even if it was for only 20 minutes.

Oh I've cut back a lot over the years But in those days you used to see loads go into the pubs straight from work for a couple of hours or so A pint every half hour used to be considered quite slow in those days

Best thing I ever did. Only drink rum on rare occasions. Feel better, sleep better and saved a fair bit. One of the worst drugs available. Get rid or cut down as much as possible.

What’s your secret or how did you do it? Willpower Apart from that🤣 There must be something to take the edge off. I often go and get a couple of bottles of something despite not really wanting it. Suppose it doesn’t help living 100 yards from Bargain Booze🤦🏻♂️😀
