Got to be Vale really, same city and all that We can say Wolves, Derby etc but it wouldn't be recipricated Theres plenty of Wolves fans in mid staffs that would say us. Maybe less in Wolverhampton, but it’s us or West Brom for most dingles.

I think it largely depends on where you live & when you were born, i grew up in Stafford and born in 95 so its wolves for me as i grew up around loads of them and we have played in the same 2 leagues for large parts. Although if you're from uttoxeter way you would probably say Derby but i'd guess most people raised in Stoke & slightly older would say Vale
I wouldn't consider bournemouth as a rivalry at all just because some people don't like how they play, we've only played them in the last few years and are so far away. and to be honest i doubt they even care about us so its hardly a rivalry - just a dislike

Whatever team Pulis is managing.... even if it'd be Barrow under 12s.

for the upcoming season only, i think it'll be Forest With the surprise of recent history, if Forest fans are anything like we are and Arsenal 71/72, they will bear us extreme illwill for decades now. It wasn't just the season last day events, but how they all unfolded in such an unexpected fashion.

It wasn't just the season last day events, but how they all unfolded in such an unexpected fashion. that's exactly why i was thinking Forest. plus, they have shot themselves in the foot with the 'oldest club in the world' theme, by putting 1865 on their new kits. It's all brewing nicely, for some intensity during the season.

Rival for promotion? Or genral rivalry?
Rivals has to be both ways, unless it's this season and then for me Brentford, poss Watford.
If you say Derby, they would say Forest If you say Forest, they would say Derby If you say Wolves, they would say WBA If you say Millwall, they would say WHU
If you say Vale, they would say Us. So it's Vale. Even though we aren't rivals in football terms this year.

Nottingham will be a big one next season imo, especially if we’re both competing for top 6. Probably won’t be as fierce as if there were fans for that last game though.

Ive been going for 47 years now and the Vale will never be rivals to me. I actually quite like the club and I think the fans they have are as loyal as they come. But Vale the club is but a pimple on the arse of SCFC
For me the biggest rivalry was in the real staffordshire derby which was the Wolves. Its true they have a bigger rivalry with West Brom but you cant say a game with us doesnt count from their perspective. They have always turned up in numbers and you can feel the aggression from both sides- even in these sanitised times.
Biggest rivalry doesnt equate to biggest games for us Stokies in years gone by. The biggest turnouts were nearly always against the two Manchester and Liverpool clubs who would bring a vast support on occasion- perhaps twice the amount the Wolves would bring on a good day....we never wanted to roll over to those four clubs- always special occasions

for the upcoming season only, i think it'll be Forest being a Notts based Stokie (shirt wearing) I can tell you that actually they dont really give a fuck about Stoke, even the last game, where we killed their playoff hopes, disappointingly they dont really care as they think the problems are forest based, and care much more for change at their own club. Still smile in my Stoke shirt at and abatt (as they say here)

The fact that it was aimed at the Potteries in general still goes over their troglodyte heads nearly 30 years later 😂

No Stoke fan can say I actually like them (well they can obviously) but if you had a proper inclin into just how much these twats hate us and everything about us you would never say “I actually quite like them” horrible fans. Childish I know. But hate me. I fucking hate you more. Just the way it is I guess. Never hated Stockport County. But once I realised how much they hated us back in the day I hated them. Couldn’t give a toss about them now. But if Port Vile went out of the football league. I’d still hate them until they didn’t exist anymore. I pray that they go under in my life time. Sad but true 👍

Have to clarify what I ment by saying that our biggest rival is TP managed teams. Its not because of hatred or disrespect towards TP but more like his team have usually won when we have played against them. Add to this that Pulis himself would use every trick to turn us over and I'd call that rivalry. They are special games and we all know it.

Stockport fans still hate Stoke and they're not too keen on Vale either, I think their perception is that we're all a bunch of interbred baked clay heads 🥴⚱

Not really, although their fans have given Stoke a good hiding on quite a few occasions, from memory up there a few times, at the Vic and Wembley high street, our boys had a few extra red stripes down their jerseys back then and brown ones in their scrunters too.

Cardiff were fierce rivals for a time but we appear to have distanced ourselves from each other these last 10 or so years in the rivalry stakes.
Never forget them knicking Kav & Thorney off us at the time, & them play off matches and how that ended, who can forget them?! What made it particularly interesting was the Final being played in... Cardiff!

Sad but true 👍 I get your point but consider this. If a Vale fan read our two posts who do you think would annoy them the most? The guy who has got really wound up by their abuse or the one that said said that he quite likes them in the way you would an annoying little cousin who is considered too small and irrelevant to be a big player in the family? bet I would get a black eye faster than you
