You never know, he might get in their side and play really well and get some other sides who are happy to part with money interested. precisely, his value cant really fall lets face it.

btw what a downer for Preston, only getting £2m for Davies from Liverpool. It's 2M more than they were getting yesterday, as he was virtually signed and sealed on a pre contract bosman deal to Celtic. They've actually been very daft. Turned big money down for Pearson (10M+) who is now worth a fraction of that and the same for Davies in the summer. Must be something in the water in Preston...

It is but again naively with them getting some money I thought we might have been able to get 500-750k for the useless git and that made me feel happy. A loan is ok but we're definitely soft touches even with the current situation. And if Preston refuse to pay £500k.....then what? I’m not sure many on here fully understand the finances at football clubs especially in the current climate It’s better to get some money in rather than nothing at all I'm not disagreeing (which I thought was pretty obvious) but there's no doubt we are soft touches and have our pants pulled down and get our arses smacked.

Realistically his current worth has probably dropped to £600/700k by way of him not getting games, and performing mostly quite poorly when he has. That kind of price is about right for a proven League 1 CB not getting games in the Championship. Preston will loan him though rather than take a punt, and we should definitely make them take on at least half his wages - it's all about trying to release funds to pay someone else's wages coming in. He wasn't worth 500k when we signed him. He was in the League 1 team of the season when we signed him. He had terrific potential. We just didn't realise he needed a strong CB alongside him to resemble anything close to competent.

Probably not more than £2M. Makes me cry thinking of what a dream he would be in our team. Described as 'minimal' by their local press. Whatever that means I don't know, but would guess you are not far off.

People said Ramadan Sobhi had terrific potential but I saw immediately that he actually couldn't strike a ball properly with either foot. It was actually quite embarrassing for the lad. You only had to watch Lindsay once to know that we'd screwed ourselves over again with another ridiculous transfer fee for a player barely worth a quarter of what we paid for him.

I came on here and mentioned Lindsay a few weeks ago. Think it has been in the offing all month but we have been waiting to see if Ben Davies signed a pre-contract at Celtic and stayed until the end of the season, or went somewhere this month.
Liverpool’s late move has trigger the Lindsay move as we need a left footed centre half.
Glad it’s a loan because he hasn’t played much and a buy would be a risk at this stage. If he performs well I’m sure there’s a good chance he’ll get a permanent move to North End.

Sadly a mixture of mismanagement (taking far too long to offer them big contracts which they deserved) and the Covid market being bad to sell into has result in us losing Pearson and Davies for relative peanuts. We do have a significant sell on with Davies though which is good because Liverpool seem to sell their player for inflated prices. It can’t be allowed to happen again. Thankfully a couple of lads ending up signing on but we had 5 key players all out of contract at once. Shambles and unlike us.

Last time I read your forum I was shocked at the stick he was getting.

Yeah but when he stepped on the ball with both feet under no pressure whatsoever and gaining no advantage to his team.......wow that was a trick.

I wonder if alex Neil regrets turning us down. Pne were doing well then but have been in decline since. With contract issues of players at pne up there with scholes at his very best....maybe his influence is still over pne.

btw what a downer for Preston, only getting £2m for Davies from Liverpool. Conversely ... what a bargain for the dippers.
And even that is rounded up according to local press.
Makes my blood boil that absolute bargains like that (Perason went for comparative change too) are beyond us due to all the complete and utter dross we bought and cannot get shut of.
Has the Oatcake jury ever delivered a definitive verdict on who, exactly, was to blame?

Think he will do well at Preston Big , brave and honest
Needs to be told in no uncertain terms at the start of every match , not to try and hit 60 yard passes .If he keeps it simple , he's decent .
