We could still do with another younger DM if he isn't going to be ready for a while and one that could learn of him wouldn't be abad thing.

...... It all boils down to decent due diligence when signing, (Plus a chunk of luck). If his body and mind are in decent order I'd seriously consider him. That's the type of decision that MON will get paid the big bucks for.
"Michael O’Neill has revealed that Stoke City did their due diligence on John Obi Mikel and got nothing but positive references before making him their fourth signing of the summer.
.....................
“But we did a lot of due diligence on him, got references from people like Tony Pulis who he played under at Middlesbrough and other people that he’s worked under. ""
Good to see that the powers that be are finally listening to my wise words, now I just have to get my wife and family to follow suit!!

It's just a huge pity Stoke didn't carry out due diligence on the signings in Hughes last few years. Or did they get glowing references for Berahino, Wimmer, Imbula, etc.?

That reference won't be worth the paper it isn't wrote on.
I wouldn't buy a pair of shoelaces off 'him'.

What magnificent news that TP helped MON with this signing.
The sooner we get TP involved in the club again the better.

Good old TP to the rescue Shireley not, don't we just normally use a dusty video, carefully edited by someone in Poland. I can't imagine TS was bothered with all this diligence malarkey.

That reference won't be worth the paper it isn't wrote on. I wouldn't buy a pair of shoelaces off 'him'. I suspect like a good many on here I'm ambivalent about Tony Pulis - he did a tremendous job in getting us into and stay in the Premiership but the football at times was unwatchable and eventually he had to go. However to be fair he was a very good judge of character and he didn't suffer any wastrels on the payroll for very long. If he's saying John Obi Mikel is a good character I believe him. Given how he was let down by Etebo and N'Diaye O'Neill must have been worried about bringing a potentially disinterested "star" into the club. Fair play to O'Neill for not making a knee jerk decision and making what looks like an informed, objective decision. If he's fit and his head is in the right place we've got the sort of player that could make a hell of a difference.

[/quot I'm just wondering how we can adopt and integrate the spirit of some of our renowned former managers into our rebuilding and restructuring project. Michael O Neill seeks to build a team around a group of 30+ plus veterans, in the manner of the great Tony Waddington, and uses the Tony Pulis model of identifying the Stoke DNA. The Stoke "revival" echo's the fervour of the Nathan Jones experiment, and we end up with a team that is at least as good if not better than Mark Hughes "Stokealona", as effective as Lou Macari's dynamic side and as resilient and competitive as the Alan Durban outfit. A little bit of Gudjon Thorderson's luck and we will be well away.

What magnificent news that TP helped MON with this signing. The sooner we get TP involved in the club again the better. Tremendous news. Perhaps chief scout role for our Tone. Michael would relish some top notch help from an experienced professional with no agenda... just love and affinity for the Club.

What magnificent news that TP helped MON with this signing. The sooner we get TP involved in the club again the better. Fantastic reference if Pulis liked his attitude. Should be at the club in some sort of recruitment role Tony Pulis should, definatly. Its a joke he isnt when he goes into so much depth with his dna profiling
