Anyway how about making Mikel captain? I think he will be if Ryan doesn't start.

Where the fuck is Etebo, not only is he a better player he’s not a old as fuck Same place that Lionel Messi is, not wanting to play for Stoke. He might be younger, might be better, but he's got no interest in playing for us and wants out so he's useless. Let's concentrate on those who want to play for us and not on those who have been banging on the manager's door since last summer to try and get out.

Does he say he spoke to Etebo about joining Stoke, right at the beginning of the interview?

Funny thing is Mikel has won it all with Chelsea and been successful in England, this lad they signed is an unknown quantity in English football. Mikel for a championship club is on paper a good defensive mid signing

Window so far Fox Mikel Fletcher Chester Its obvious what O'Neill is trying to install into the team, all 3 (not sure about Fox) are potential leaders with a professional attitudes and good personal references. Hopefully with these we won't roll over and have our stomachs tickled. Still want to see energy installed though, a second gear etc A combined age of 123... Surely an omen that we will finish either 1st, 2nd or 3rd. "you don't win nothing with kids"

Agree, but it has to be the right balance in my opinion. Individually we are signing what looks to be on paper decent signings, but is the hunger and energy of youth there? League 1 and League 2 have many players with the hunger and energy of youth (we have some in our under18s/23s etc) but sometimes it looks as if that is all they have. The Championship has equally many hard, experienced defenders so any youngsters will have to have something else in their skill-set if they are going to progress. Hunger and energy not enough in themselves. Would be nice to see a bit of genuine pace though out in the wide forward positions, a player that can pick up the ball and run with it to turn defence into attack, one on either side happy days, but at least one. I'm not counting ince, I don't particularly want to watch him play football again, he's not cut it for us

Could prove a very astoute signing. His calmness on the ball will help us dominate games.

I really like this signing, he’s like a better version of Salif Diao, an experienced presence at the base of the midfield who is calm on the ball.
Something we’ve been crying out for.

O'Neill ticking the boxes on paper of what most see as Stoke's weak areas, left back and defensive midfielder plus added to the spine of the team. O'Neill certainly added experienced players which i hope will benefit the younger and fitter (runners) members of the squad.
We should be awkward to play against and be match physically for most teams.
JOM will hopefully be at level to standout in the championship tidying up and starting of offensive play, his passing range tends to be short range rather then hollywood and may play around 2 in 3 games but Clucas, Powell and even Allen should be allowed to attack more. Welcome to the new Whelan.

Didn't think he came across that well really, a lot of words but little substance.
If he hadn't had such a good career you'd think he was a blagger listening to that.
I think he'll be a decent signing mind if he's fit.

What a top bloke! Love him already. Came across as very relaxed, yet supremely confident in his abilities and what he can bring. If he’s to be believed then he has a strong desire to win and that mentality as a winner can only be a good thing. Hope he can get and stay fit and set the example and bench mark that the rest of the team can aspire to.

It’s interesting that there have been several players signed under Coates/Scholes that played previously under Pulis. Suggests Coates or Scholes are looking to Pulis for recommendations. Hopefully Mikel works out better than some of the previous duds he has sent our way. Lessons of history and all that. Personally I would not trust Pulis as far as I could throw him and wouldn’t touch any of his recommendations with a shitty stick.
notably both Fletcher and Berahino were signed by Stoke from WBA while TP was still in charge. Is this another Trojan Horse?
