It's a very safe appointment but not one to get the pulse racing if you're a Bristol City fan. I'd take that all day long

The only reason Cook isn't given more credit is because he's fat, bald and not much of a looker. He's been successful everywhere he has been and his recruitment on a budget is quite excellent, the Chesterfield squad that won League 2 which i used to watch included; Eoin Doyle, Gary Roberts, Sam Clucas, Sam Morsy, Liam Cooper, Tendai Darikwa, Jay O'Shea... Some brilliant players in there, really was. Are you based in Chesterfield? Ive lived there for 6 years now. The team he built at Chesterfield was incredible really, just look where Chesterfield are now without him, he almost got a small town team into the championship and now they are just about avoiding relegation to the Vanarama North!

If it’s true he turned us down, I wonder what he has seen at Bristol that he didn’t at Stoke? More a case of what he didn't see at Bristol that he saw at Stoke.

Nah, close though! I went to sixth form in Matlock, good mate of mine there had a season ticket for Chez and I saw them quite a bit over two seasons. It's crazy to think about how much they've fallen really. Many a tragic night enjoyed at the Beach Bar there, fond of the town! Surprised they have suffered so much... After-all they got money for some of the players, I know Ariyibi went to Forest. I thought that having such a good, young squad would set them up for years really. Boy did I get that wrong!

Used to be a Chesterfield fan come down Stoke quite a bit in the 90s. Due to family connections, we were his 'other' team.
Big John from New Mills
Don't know if he still comes down now

Cook would be a good appointment if it happens.
But is Hughton holding out for Real Madrid?

Reckon he’s waiting for Eddie Howe to leave Bournemouth You'd pick Bristol over Bournemouth surely? Potentially a much bigger club with a far superior stadium to Dean Court.

On the cusp of championship football then he left for Pompey and it fell apart. I watched a lot of paul cooks Chesterfield. They were a good team to watch.

Reckon he’s waiting for Eddie Howe to leave Bournemouth Interesting thought but I can't see Bournemouth getting rid of Eddie Howe. He's done a tremendous job there overall and I think he has a lot of credit in the bank.

Brings back memories when Lou left and we just gave it Chic Bates. Cheap option in the current climate I suppose.

He's got a few months managing Oldham on his CV in 2015. And then assistant manager to David Dunn. Underwhelming appointment. He has been in the background at Bristol for a while but it's a bit like going from QSF to Paul Lambert...

www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/bristol-city-leaning-towards-dean-4393484Bristol City are edging towards appointing Dean Holden as the permanent successor to Lee Johnson at Ashton Gate.
Though a late switch for another candidate was not entirely ruled out by club sources on Tuesday, Holden is expected to clinch the position over the next days unless there is a sudden change of heart by the City board.
That is not expected however, with City looking to give several younger players a chance next season, with little recruitment to happen and few signings to be made.
Bristol City's players have not been told yet who the successor to Johnson will yet be, and there remains the chance that the Lansdowns and the City board will change direction at the last moment, especially as fans make their complaints heard after expecting an A-list appointment.
Few will appreciate that these are uncertain times in football and to go with what you know and trust is at this point very valuable - with club income decimated, jobs being lost and other clubs struggling to make ends meet with crowds missing for at least a large part of this season.

With brizzle opting for dean Holden and Bournemouth looking at tindall it seems like they are making appointments that may be cheaper to remove if it doesnt go well. Hughton obviously waiting for pep to leave man city

Wow they're not happy, someone's put banners up outside the stadium apparently. They may as well have kept Johnson. From Gerrard/Hughton to this...
Still, cheer up Brizzle fans. Your 'stonker to flacid' can't be as bad as the one the Geordies have suffered 😎
