Alluded to this at press conference today. Defies belief why they wouldn't grasp that post lockdown there may be a heightened chance of them being needed with increased workload & injuries. Edwards obviously one, maybe Oakley Booth & Tymon as well?

I am not wading into the kids, but if they've not come back in shape then they deserve a bollocking!!

Easy targets he said Sorensen had done well , he didn’t exactly cover himself in glory st Leeds and Wigan so I’d wait until we are safe before throwing stones , plus who was managing them

Another mention of them today (4mins 30s). Asked whether the youngsters may get a chance on Wednesday. Says "no, they need to earn the chance". Goes on to say we will be bringing in new players in the window and the youngsters need to do more.

If I was to hazard a guess I'd say he's not really talking about Campbell, Collins and Sorenson, given that one has been getting regular starts and the other two have been regularly called on from the bench.
But sounds like some of the others have annoyed him!

Edwards and Tymon seem to have disappeared, will they be sold/given away/loaned out?

Edwards and Tymon seem to have disappeared, will they be sold/given away/loaned out? Edwards gets a loan in League 1. Maybe even a newly promoted team takes a punt on him. It's up to him to save his career from here...

He’s laying down high standards. If they wish to become successful professional footballers they are going to have to step up and improve its that simple.

Campbell was atrocious today. He had one job and that was to run his bollocks off and pressure their defence and goalie and he just didn’t look arsed in the slightest. Really disappointing.

I criticised his interview after Boro. I still maintain that criticism. However, that was a great interview.
Music to my ears. Aren't celebrating, driven to improve next season, young players have a chance but have to show more.
He even found time for a filthy look in Tony Scholes' way as he slithered past the camera.

According to O'Neil we have 7 players out on loan and with what we have this gives us around 31 players. Most of these have at least 12 months on their contracts on good money and will be hard to shift. If the younger players want to get a game they will have to fight for it otherwise they will be shown the door. If we had only 15 players then that would be different.

He scored 2 goals, one from a clever back-heel, and another froma corner with a miss-hit shot that trundled into the corner, but generally his work rate, ball control, tackling, etc. have been atrocious since the lock down. I have found him very annoying to watch generally. Anyway, today is a day to celebrate, I really was worried after yesterday's result that everything was going to conspire to send us down. We could have had 3 penalties against us today if there was video replay.

I think it's probably not so much about the academy players, really, despite his seemingly taking a stab at them.
I think O'Neill's started talking to the board through the media/interviews.
The board probably think we can ideally augment a decent squad with a bunch of academy lads. They might have told him that there will be no heavy investment in the next transfer window.
O'Neill knows he barely has 11 men good enough to keep us up, although he's just done that. He does not have a sufficiently strong enough squad to mount a major challenge next season, so he wants to be able to buy players for as much as his predecessors did.
If enough people buy that line of thinking, the board could have a re-thimk, he hopes. That in itself is of course a stab in the back of any young hopeful.

His ball control and work rate have been fine overall too. Tackling? Why would you judge Campbell on tackling?

Is there much movement for the board though, if we can't get rid he'll have very little to spend due to FFP.

Campbell looks as fit as my postman at the minute and he eats Ginsters and Hob Nobs for breakfast.
Edwards seems totally out of the picture and as we know, MON takes no nonsense from players

Campbell’s form may have dipped in the last few games, but he’s got 9 goals in effectively half a season- only Stoke would consider buggering him off. We should actually realise that the experienced players who we are currently lauding, are the buggers who got us into this situation in the first place. Out of the experienced players the only ones I’d keep are: Clucas ( he has won me over) McLean (squad player) Batth (squad player only) Afobe- give him a chance in a two pronged attack Allen Powell ( hopefully keep him fit) Vokes ( squad player only). Smith- although I’d like to see us have two fullbacks signed up! Ince, Gregory, BMI, Butland,Chester,Wimmer, Etebo, N’Diaye can all seek employment elsewhere if we can find anyone to take them off our hands. It will be interesting to see what MO’n would like and to see what he’s able to get- he’s already said he needs to freshen it up, but that 31 players is too big a squad.

Some of our posters take great delight in highlighting his lack of fitness, poor touch etc but seem to forget that he does what a forward is picked for-I.e. score! Just look at some of today’s posts.
