Typical modern day footballer tbf. But boy, what a player. A real maverick. Just watch him back on YouTube in a Stoke shirt and then see just what we are now missing. I remember watching an episode of Soccer am where I think it was him and Charlie Adam at Clayton Wood doing that scoring from the corner flag thing. A joy and a swagger to behold. I’d love to watch Jordan Thompson and Jordan Cousins doing it! Stubbing their toes and kicking the corner flags🙄

He was miles better than "good". He was world class on his day. For me, he's the only attacking player we've had in the last two decades, with the possible exception of Moses, who is even on the same planet as Fuller. He and N'Zonzi are the only players in my lifetime who I think that I have been genuinely privileged to witness in their pomp. If we're all completely honest, the reason that his departure stung quite so much was because he was that good, and that important. There was all of his other behaviour in forcing the move, but Marc Wilson also did that and people barely remember him now. Moses really was good for us wasn’t he? I don’t think it gets said enough. Moses and Arnautovic on either wing, and then Shaqiri and Arnie on either wing the following season. We really witnessed some good players around that time.

Great player, but doesn’t surprise me. This attribute in general was the start of the end. Legacy of the “next level”.

Even selling him wasnt the issue the failure to adequately replace was like it was with N'Zonzi It’s incredibly easy to say that the failure to adequately replace N’Zonzi and Arnie was the main reason for our demise. In practice, this is very difficult to achieve with our resources. Who would you have replaced them with? Was it really? considering we spunked almost 20mill on imbula. We just didnt do enough homework or scouting. In the fullness of time we might have been able to get a tune out of Choupo but we'll never know however again with the money we received for Arnie we didnt really invest it in that area properly instead we bought an overweight and completely uninterested Kevin Wimmer. We had the resources and we had the money but we chose to squander it instead.
