He's a 10 goal a season striker in this league. He's average at best. This is probably the truth to be honest. I did think we were getting a Walters type at the beginning, someone who just worked his balls off and got a job done. If he turned back to that player, I’d be very happy with him, but at present he just seems so inept.

Feel with a good run of games and was our no.1 Forward he probably would be getting 10 goals a season for us. But we have better.

Absolutely abysmal.
He runs a lot, and is a relatively decent footballer. But a striker he is not. Let’s be honest since we’ve had him he’s had plenty of game time, and he is the worst finisher I’ve ever seen at Stoke.
If he was one on one you’d back him to miss, he is a TERRIBLE striker.

Works hard for the team, runs the channels well, holds up the ball, brings others into play, intelligent movement, gets into goal scoring positions... That enough? No, 4 goals and 2 of them penalties is nowhere near enough. Strikers are and always will be judged on goals scored per minutes on the pitch. He makes the average Vokes actually look half decent. 4 goals, 3 assists in 20 starts most of them under Jones. He’s never had a consistent run in the team to build confidence etc.

He’ll be gone to Cardiff in the summer cue 20 goal season , firing them to the premier league 😏
Scholes
“ We felt a loan where we paid his salary allowed us to use our special relationship with Daniel and show real ambition signing Martin Neverbe. Anygood for a Club record fee direct from spurs record breaking veterans .

If there was a mountain for shit players, Gregory would be the Turd on top. Even Keith Scott got the odd goal or 2.

I think he is very good at a lot of things, but as a striker he lacks the most important abilities! He isn't very good in the air and he can't finish! Apart from that he isn't a bad footballer, but he is not a good Championship striker!

Vokes is your typical plank, not much movement but a handful in the box. He's poor footballer though, one time yesterday he was given the ball. The pass was a good one at a controllable speed, the ball just came off him to the opposition. Hmm. Gregory does a lot more effort but just can't score and looks like he never will. Upgrades needed, do we think Afobe and Campbell will be an idea?

One of the few good things about lee Gregory is that he isn't Scott Hogan.

Yeah that's what he has averaged in the championship. But for us...he's a 4 goals a season utility, 2 of which were penalties (but at least he scores). Yesterday the point of him was to replace Ty Campbell who has replaced Ince. In other words, O'Neill tells Ince he's third choice, and in other other words, not wanted here.

Ask Lawrence, the way he was going on he sounded like he wanted to give him MOTM Didn't Lawrence play with him at some point? - I am sure I heard him say they were mates... Not like Liam to eulogise a player whose main quality is graft not craft

Have to say he was abysmal in front of goal but offered more aggression than Tyrese and was instrumental in our throw ins being greatly improved. He can retain possession with 2 or 3 around him and can receive a throw in without the ball bouncing off him.

Lee Gregory couldn't score a goal if the goal took up half of Planet Earth. Hard worker, grafter, nothing much else. However, Vokes tonight was atrocious. I'm not sure I saw him win an actual header all 90 minutes. It was like going back to pre lockdown Vokes. Does have a goal in him though, unlike Gregory. The fact is we have a poor striker pool. Campbell has been a shining light, and the jury is out with MON on Afobe. New striker(s) inbound this window you'd suspect. I doubt it, sounds to me as though it'll be a pool of Afobe, Campbell and Vokes. He has come out publicly and said he wants Afobe, Campbell isn't going anywhere and we'll be stuck with Vokes until his contract runs out. We simply can't afford another striker.

He's that bad.

We know he tries but he has no idea how to put a football into a fucking goal. No pace, no touch & no technique whatsoever. Thought he was excellent today with his pressing of the Brentford defenders and his overall hold up and link up play.

Ok maybe there is a point to Lee Gregory.
Disastrous 1st half v Brizzle, but actually played to his strengths in 2nd half v Brizzle. Got his goal today, seems suited to a high pressing game, when supported by fellow high pressing forward players. Funny he should get the goal that keeps us up.
Oh and I would offer an apology but one goal, despite its significance, does not make a player over the course of the season...

The difference for me is any of the forwards are likely to look better in a two than playing one up front?

The difference for me is any of the forwards are likely to look better in a two than playing one up front? 100% agree with this. Anyone who has played up top on their own has really struggled. Gregory and Vokes didn't look bad today and their ability to win headers and hold the ball up nullified the Brentford full backs being able to bomb on. But, two pacy out and out wingers/full backs are what is required to make them completely effective and we don't have them

People now thinking Lee Gregory is a god after scoring a tap in from 2 yards. Yes he was in the right place but even Sidibe wouldn't have missed that. He certainly puts himself about but if we want to improve we need to replace both him & Vokes with a younger more mobile and pacy target man.
