Well it’s just a phrase for a slapdash paint job. Done as quickly as possible to reduce the chances of depression due to the mundane nature of decorating. I always say I’m going to “smack this wall in quick”🤗

Wasn't a "walloping" a term for a physical beating?
"She gave him a rate walloping"
So, just an extension to that is my guess.

My Dad called emulsion, "Wallop", so maybe it comes from the product, rather than the act of decorating?

Yeah,remember someone on the main board posting a link to a twitter account which he couldn't work out whether it was a spoof or genuine account,which made regular references to politicians/celebrities/footballers etc being spastics and hence in need of a good walloping? Absolutely bizarre account,even by Twatter's standards,that's stuck in my mind....
